There is a diagnostic/calibration mode in the Kronos but it is not recommended as it goes through many steps and you have to know exactly what to do for each.
As mentioned by others, MIDI-OX is instead simple and you could help you find out if something is now defective following what happened to your unit. |

There's this posted in another Forum topic. Might help?
Full credit to Schmooster..
Here's a link to the service manual - there's a test mode you can enter by holding [mixer knobs] + [reset controls] + [Enter] + [5] together; that lists 5 areas of auto-test with keybed being number 5 This will say Ok if it's Ok; but then there are a number of sub-tests you can go through - right down to the ADC's and internal buzzer so you need to refer to the manual.

It should enter Test Mode regardless of boot issues. Hope it helps you pinpoint it anyway.
Give the manual a minute to download fully to your browser - you can copy it to iBooks or Adobe Acrobat although they ask you not to - it's copyrighted after all. |

I don't see why one would enter the Kronos test/calibration mode for such a reason. There will be nothing to conclude about the joystick anyway, supposing one can complete all the steps without messing up something. I remember at least two people ending up sending their unit at Korg service for that reason. |

What is weird is that once I move the joystick down (-Y) the program or combi behaves fine. I can even engage the -Y modulation again and it works fine. But as soon as I move away from that program and come back to it, the -Y state is engaged again. On ALL programs and combis.
What the heck could be causing this if not moisture? |
Moisture can cause corrosion which is a very bad thing for electronic circuits. And it could be somewhere else in the system, not necessarily at the pitchbend/mod joystick. Look for green powdery areas, or worse yet black (carbonized) areas. you might need a magnifying glass to do this. And then it needs to be repaired. If you are under warranty find a service Center. There are some good YT videos that show corrosion at work in electronic circuits. _________________ "To me the synthesizer was always a source of new sounds that musicians could use to expand the range of possibilities for making music."

I'd suggest not turning your Kronos on again (or connecting it electrically) until you've thoroughly dried it out. Hair dryers, towels, or just letting it stay exposed in an air conditioned environment to evaporate all moisture from it. |
That was me! Yeah I was nervous to even turn it on and had only limited time. I took the whole thing apart - keybed, MOBO, panel, etc, laid it all out on a table, and took a hair dryer to it. I tried to blow hot air thoroughly into every single nook and cranny before reassembling. But as mentioned, it wasn't just a little rain. It was tornado proportions that blew off all the tarps and stage coverings and literally filled the Kronos with water to where I had to tip it and dump the water out of it. Worked perfectly. _________________
