|

Hello,
I noticed that my Yamaha FC7 damper pedal is not holding the sound on my pa4x. I guess it’s not supported?
Any advice on an other supported damper pedal?
Cheers! |

Yamaha FC7 is not a damper pedal - it is a Control Pedal (e.g for expression/volume) - I have one and it works fine - I do not recommend using it as a damper pedal.
You need a sustain/damper pedal - most will work fine and the only advice from me is to get one with a polarity switch - e.g. the M-Audio SP2 Sustain (damper) pedal - inexpensive and very good.
You can of course configure damper pedal polarity on the PA4X itself BUT if you ever use your sustain/damper pedal on a different keyboard it might be sensible to have one with a physical polarity switch.
Cheers

If you play piano, dont buy plastic pedals, it has annoying noise when you press pedal. _________________ 2022 = Korg PA5x

[quote="Bartjuhx3" .. supported damper pedal .. [/quote]
For solo piano playing the damper mode "Resonance/Halo" is much more realistic than the "Normal" mode you can choose in pop-up menu DamperMode.
To control the level of "Resonance/Halo" a pedal with damper function half-pedaling is recommended - it allows a fine variation of the sound.
It is not recommended to use a momentary sustain foot pedal that will send on/off messages only and does not support half-pedaling. _________________ kind regards

As the OP really doesn’t seem to recognize the difference between a swell pedal and a sustain pedal or switch, I’m not sure advice about half damping is of much use..!
I’m often amazed how some people appear to have never played a real piano. If they had, the difference between a swell pedal and a damper pedal would be obvious even before they plugged it in. |

I like it to spend informations also without to control if advice would be useful.
Which quality of information do you think has the content of your answer - do you think it better helps (korghelper) the OP to mention that you once played a piano and that you are amazed others did not?
I think keyboard players that have never played a real piano also are entitled to use damper functions! _________________ kind regards

They aren’t exactly hard to find, who honestly can say they have never seen or sat at one? It’s hard to imagine someone that managed to go a lifetime (no matter how short!) without seeing a piano, or sitting at one.
You don’t need to have learned piano, or owned one, or even made a living playing one. But sit at one once in your life and you would surely have noticed no swell pedal and what shape the pedals are... |

Interesting comment but a piano is a different instrument to a keyboard so I guess, conversely, many pianists have never played a keyboard.
A piano is a percussion instrument whereas a keyboard is not.
I've never played an accordion, or harpsichord.
