For obscure reasons I have been looking at the demo vids on the new Yamaha SX series.

It will be interesting to see and gear side by side reviews when they become available

Have to say that I am not impressed by the SX sounds which to me in the demos are over bright and harsh in tone.

I really do not want to go with a different brand, as getting another PA700 is on the top of my list. But.... One thing I have learned in my recording studio, past and present, is that variety is the spice of life. I have 11 boards in my studio now and their unique qualities allow them to play well together in a mix Smile

Grace,
Harry

It seems like a no-brainer if you want a second board for backup that you'd get the PA 1000. It then becomes your main board and the PA 700 your backup.

I have considered the PA1000, but I do not need the additional features that it has. Getting another PA700 may be the best option for me. Price is a factor, as is familiarity. Another PA700 would be the logical choice because I could do a full resource restore from the original unit to the new unit and, BOOM!, I have an identical unit Smile

Harry
