Hello guys !..
I have a question about the "Step sequencer"
I know that the step sequencer is not polyphonic.
Anyway... I wonder if there a way to do the following....
For example, I have 3 notes (c-d-e) in sequence..and each one is one second length.
I mean:
C - Starts in second 0.00 and finish in second 0.99
D - Starts in second 1.00 and finish in second 1.99
E - Starts in second 2.00 and finish in second 1.99
Is there a way to do the following:
C - Starts in second 0.00 and finish in second 1.49
D - Starts in second 1.00 and finish in second 1.99
E - Starts in second 2.00 and finish in second 1.99
It means -> C and D notes are "0.5" playing at the same time.
Thank you. |

Is this a question relating to the modulation step sequencer, or to the sequencer mode for recording songs? The latter is certainly polyphonic, and the proposed sequence is possible. The timing will be in measures, beats and ticks, rather then seconds, as such.

I'm sure he means the per program and common step sequencers. I'm a little rusty now on it, but I had a similar query a few years back. I wanted to syncopate my sequence with rests. I might be off here, but you may be able to also use a step sequencer as a source mixed using the ams for controlling amplitude, I just can't put my finger on the method right now.
here is my original post, which may be helpful.

I'm assuming he means the step sequencer found in SEQ mode and, even though that is monophonic, there is a simple way to get the results. Just record the notes into the step sequencer, and then go into Midi Event Edit to correct the note lengths/timings. It only takes a few seconds to do. |

Guys,,,
Thanks for your answers !
Well, The question is about the step sequencer per program (it's not about the sequencer to build songs !).

The Per Program and Per Voice step sequencers are intended to be used as modulation sources, rather than tone generation, per se, although pitch modulation is one possible target. Perhaps two Per Voice step sequencers could be used in an overlapping fashion.

Pretty sure that’s possible. To do it you want the per voice step sequencer to trigger the amp envelope. The envelope will be designed in such a way that the release time will carry-on for 0.5 seconds. I’m not in front of the Kronos right now but I’ll definitely give it a try in the next few days.
Also it’s really easy to achieve that with KARMA. Slider 2 or 3 on a basic arp controls note length. Just increase the slider’s value till your notes are overlapping. |

The step or common sequencer should be able to do what you want.
For example, if you look at the parameter guide on page 221, it shows the step sequencer for the AL-1 engine. Look at the spot labelled 8-1d. To the right of the value sliders for each step, you will see the note duration for the step and a little box to the right of that with an (x) in front of it. If you want your note to sound for double the length of the base note, set that to 02.
The duration is also changeable from 32nd to whole notes.
I don’t know for sure if it will sound out the full note before triggering the next, or sound the second one at the proper time. |

I suppose it's easy to do inside a combination. You just have to duplicate your PRG two times and so, getting 3 identical PRG.
Then, you set your Step Sequencer in each one.
Finally you create your combi with the three PRGs and their offset step sequencers. |
