|
|
I am in the process of compiling a list of songs to match the on-board styles
If members could maybe let me have their personal uses/ideas for styles with suitable songs, please post or PM me.
My hope is to produce a single data base/pdf which we can all benefit from - so PLEASE contribut your choices / uses ....
ie. 019 - I just called to say i love you
051 - unchained melody
I have around 100 up to now but hope to build a nice library if we can maybe work together on this.
Regards Keith |

Hi Keith
I find it sad that you and Mitzie are alone here so wondered if I could help a little. Have not got EK 50 so do not know what default styles you have. However I have numerous styles that suit great songs on my PA1000/ 4x and I wouldn’t mind betting that some of these styles are on your EK 50.
Do you see where I am coming from ? Example do you have style “ETHERAL ORCH”. Some great songs for this. Without knowing what styles you have it’s a bit difficult. Hope this makes sense.
Take care |

Hi Tai - thanks
Here is a factory style /sts list for EK50 i have sorted.
With the EK being just so limited it is handy to have this list on my tablet above the board so i can just bang in the numbers to select the style/sts
This quick ref list may help others - its simply 'doctored' from the manual
My intention is to simply get together a 'manual' Song book sort of feature with numbers by the songs, as we dont have anything like this on the EK.
It is only a 'basic entry board'
It sounds just great and is very 'plug and play' so by having an easy solution we can make it even better for its intended purpose - an entertainer keyboard, not an arranger .
Thanks very much for anything you and maybe others can do, well if they see this post !!
Keith
ps. sorry i cant see an easy option on here to add an att. so just copied it in

ps....The Osimo song book PDF list for Pa4X/ Pa1000 i found is 'Genre' based, which is a pity, as it would have been quite easy to glean a few examples if they were style specefic ( like Yamahas Music Finder ) .
I might just pop a post in main forum and see if anyone has a generic sort of Korg style list with suitable songs to get ideas from, ie...a song book list with the styles they actually use ?

Hi Keith
Printed your list of styles and found many of them on the Pa4x as I suspected. Here is an example of the Ballads marked with a “Yes”. Some voices are different obviously but styles are what we are talking about.
This was only one page and could be a hell of a task. Still you would not have specific songs for the styles which is why you started this post. I have another idea / suggestion but will get this off first. (Must get ready for the football on BT). Wont be long.
Ballad
33 Groove Bld *EP & VoxPad Yes same voice
34 Diva *Pad & Ac.Gtr.
35 Rock Ballad *Stage EP Yes same voice
36 Folk Ballad *Nylon Guitar Yes
37 Pop Ballad 2 *Grand Piano yes
39 Country Bld *Velo Flute Yes
40 4/4 Ballad *Grand Piano
41 Love Ballad *Strings Ens. Yes
42 Natural Beat *Harmonica
43 Celtic Ballad *Violin Solo Yes
45 Colour Beat *Stage EP Yes
46 Pop Ballad 3 *Digital EP Yes
47 8Bt Analog 3 *Synth Leads
48 16Bt Analog 2 *Nylon Guitar Yes
Ballroom
49 Slow Pop *Studio Time EP
50 Slow Rock 1 *Hybrid EP Yes same voice
51 Slow Rock 2 *Noizy Tenor yes same voice
52 Unp. Slow Rock *12 Str.Guitar
53 Big Band Fox 1 *Grand Piano
55 Slow Waltz2 *Grand Piano Yes
56 Foxtrot 1 *Grand Piano yes
57 Big Band Fox 2 *Grand Piano
58 Slow Fox *Grand Piano yes
59 Foxtrot 2 *Noizy Tenor

Hi Tai.
Thanks - I assumed there would be many styles on the 4X which turned up on the EK50 the voices, yes, might well be different, thats not important. I imagine the basis of the style pattern is the same.
Its, more, what songs are suitable for the styles that are on both boards . No need to even worry about Genre, I just need song titles to match styles which co exist on both boards. I will sort out genres later, I dont expect you to have to help me with that Tai.
Ie Windy Beat - ( which I think is on both boards ) works well for - Wind Beneath My Wings....etc
I suppose a database or list like this would be helpful for a lot of PA owners really - although i know you have Song book - it still needs loading, especially with different song choices.
Thanks again so much for any titles you can come up with - GREAT !!
Keith
ps.... i suppose quite an easy solution is to let me have your Songbook entries with the styles noted and I will check out which styles are duplicated on the EK ....as I say, I don't expect you to do the ground work on this, I am just glad somebody is prepared to help. Thanks Keith |

Songbook info includes everything but not the styles. If someone can do that I would love to know, great. But the text files I have of hundreds and hundreds of songs do not show the styles.
It would be easier for EK 50 owners to take part in your project, but kooks like they will not. Doing what I have done today relates your styles to my Pa4x / 1000 but not your songs.
So what about making a short list of your favourite songs that are on Pa4x / 1000 . Look at the styles on my / our Pa`s and compare with your EK 50 styles for you to test. Just a couple of your songs to start with. Example I have been playing “Blowing in the Wind”, Bob Dylan and I bet the style is worth trying. Just a thought. After all its your favourite songs that are most important. That’s what I do then save them to a setlist.
Wrote this before I saw your last post. One day at a time. Like you say its nice to show some interest. Keeps the brain ticking over.
Take care |

Hi Keith
A lot of Beatles songs on Osimo are Abbey Rock styles. Your list has Abbey Road style. Just wondered if there could be a connection ?? I have pinned your list up and if I notice anything that might fit I will let you know. Best I can do.
There is no way I can find to print a text file showing songbook with styles.
Take care |

Hi Tai.
Yes it is the same style I am sure.
Yes - if you can maybe keep an eye out for suitable songs - that would be great if you can make a quick note. Thanks ...
I might not be on forum for a week or two now as going away, so if you do post and I dont reply then please dont think i have forgot your kind help.
No ...I cant find a text doc. with Korg songbook style entries anywhere. I really would have thought there would have been a catalogue 'somewhere'' kicking around!! I have loads of yamaha lists ... Typical
Thanks again - Keith |

Hi backpool. I notice a lot of the styles you list come from way back - some of them are in my i30. So, forum member Miden (Dennis) went into this some time ago. Check this out, hope it helps.

THANKS Giner - This will be VERY helpful!!!
Yes a lot are re-worked PA50/80 styles + the EK shares same sound chip with these models as far as i am aware.
That will be great - I will copy the ones which I have from this list now,
Many thanks again for taking time to reply and post this link, sure it will help!!!
It really would be good if we had a dedicated 'pot' like this to post into, for All factory Korg styles with suitable song titles, as most styles with the same tiltles on different models really share much the same basic style patterns....IMHO |

This is a great idea! I'm just about to get an EK-50 and was thinking about the same thing while listening to styles on Youtube.
This is my ideas (maybe not all that good) so far:
1 Soft Beat - Yesterday (Beatles), Can't help falling in love (Elvis Presley), We are the world (USA for Africa)
7 UK 8 Beat - Wonderwall (Oasis)
8 8 Beat Groove - Pride (U2)
10 Pop Ballad 1 - Rosanna (Toto)
12 Light Rock 1 - Road to hell (Chris Rea)
23 Slow Ballad - Nikita (Elton John)
24 6Strings Bt - Torn (Natalie Imbruglia)
31 Windy Beat - Wind of change (Scorpions)
33 Groove Bld - True colors (Cyndi Lauper)
44 16BtAnalog1 - Careless whisper (George Michael)
To be continued... |
