Picky piano time.
I normally keep my Kronos 88 Velocity curve at 6.
I finally got the Italian, Korg version.
A1 and B1 have distinct bell like effect in tone.
[Italian F Piano 000]
Kronos does not have Velocity Curve at the Program/Timbre level. Only
in Global.
Looking for a workaround to to reduce that harsh bell effect on A1 and B1.
I can mostly reduce that sample effect by using 5 Velocity curve in Global.
The reducing Filter cutoff to 42 from 64. This affects the entire keyboard.
I could set up a custom combi, using 2 Timbres or programs , with the Italian, and isolate/customize those few notes in key zone
Interested if anyone has noticed this on A1 and B1 and have an approach.
Its not solvable in EQ from what I hear.
Thanks ! _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8

Velocity curve 6 makes it very easy to drive a piano in quite loud/bright sample levels.
You could try modifying Velocity Bias to taste in SGX-2 programs in the settings to reach softer/darker sounding sample levels.
I've tried a few real Fazioli grands including their big model and I know they easily sound quite bright with this "in your face" purity of tone sitting at the keys, even at soft levels. I believe Korg did a great job sampling the one they had for this EXs21. In other words, it's normal the Fazioli EXs behaves and sounds that way, compared to other piano EXs like the Steinway (German) or Bechstein (Berlin).
So with a very easy velocity curve setting, you can try my idea or go ahead with your solution which might do the job quite fine too. _________________ My Kronos 7 |

Thanks for the good info, KK.
I like the character of the Faz- it records beautifully.
I didn't find much variation with velocity bias- I will give it 1 more try just the same.
I am light fingered on piano and comftable with '6'. I will drop to 5 on V curve to see if that slight adjustment works for me _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8

Hi Greg,
Just tried the program you mentioned on my K2 for kicks and I can hear a good difference with a very low Velocity Bias setting. _________________ My Kronos 7 |

Hey KK, thx for talking me thru velocity.
I followed thru on your approach and am very pleased with the IG and Velocity settings
I set Global vel curve to 5. This seems to be fine with all Kronos instruments.
I also dropped to -70 velocity bias on IG F program 000, the first IG program.
This is my sweet spot on the IG.
I don't have to alter Filter Cutoff, or set up a combi workaround.
The SGX-2 and variety of Kronos AP's are excellent for my purposes.
Its terrific to enjoy this level after +8 years of Kronos ownership.
Sounding like a Korg commercial _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8

Glad these little adjustments help you enjoy the new Fazioli. I think the EX21s offers the best Kronos honky-tonk piano sound as well (Bright Honky Tonk Grand).
Long live the Kronos. _________________ My Kronos 7 |

Absolutely , brother. Kronos is bottomless for expression.
I am using the IG in my next original. The piano is helping to inspire a driving rock song.
It is a cool experience to use a new type of instrument. _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8
