not sure on ownership rights for groups content..
there maybe an issue if you are not the original poster or the person who created the file..
but then again if it was posted in an open membership group where you do not have to be approved or mod.
then it could be public domain... that is a maybe!!

I think there's more of an issue for message history for private groups. Files aren't identifying, and that's the big thing that Yahoo's community standards mention is identifiable content being removed without notice.

I'm not famliar with yahoo groups but would like to pull down data for various synths - can you indicate what you're doing - is there a way to pul down all group data, or say synth program files, on mass?

I/o acts ok.. but is a whole different look and feel on the admin side..
so mmm what software or down load site are you using for the capture on the files at yahoo groups?

PG Offline. It's a Windows program. It has a free 30-day trial but I paid the $25 for the full version, which lets me run unlimited instances (as long as it stays within the Yahoo server download limit of course).

OK. All files, photos, attachments, and links can be quickly downloaded in folders using PG Offline. It can do message archives too, as I'm doing, but if that's not needed the files etc can be downloaded independently. The only exception is attachments - those are linked to the messages so you have to download the messages before the attachments will download. Once downloaded however they just go into a normal folder and are like any other files.

I'm not an admin of that group - but E.J.Sawyer (frequently posts here) is and I asked him to see what he could do about it...

Hi everyone,
Here is the final list of all 312 Yahoo groups that I was able to archive completely (messages, attachments, files, photos, and links). I also have a download from Yahoo's Get My Data thing that appears to have more of the message archives from other groups, but it's in a format that I can't do anything with right now; I'll let you know when that changes. There are also a bunch of groups that I was able to download all the files/photos/links, but no messages or attachments due to technical issues and timeframe.

Yes, but it’s going to take time. Planning on a read-only forum-type site that’s searchable. That way Mac users can read the messages (right now they’re in PG Offline which is Windows only). Any suggestions are welcome, or ideas/preferences.
