As we have a wealth of effects on our Korg Arrangers sometimes it's knowing what to use with what sounds.

Interested to know what amp effects to use with guitar sounds and how they change the sounds.

For example a 60s style rock n roll guitar what amp would you use ?

You are in a minefield.

Amps were pretty clean at the start of the sixties but by the end how things changed.

It is not just the amp, guitars vary considerably in tone depending upon make, electrics and configuration.

Hank Marvin used a Vox AC15 but after complaining it was not powerful enough they upped its output to become the AC30. Twin analogue delay, reverb, a Vox amp, tremelo and chorus will pretty much emulate his sound with the right clean Stratocaster sound but I do have to say Korg guitar sounds are all over the place in terms of quality.

Fender had a wealth of variation but it was UK firm Marshall that revolutionised the amp market.

So there is no one size fits all.

Trivia, Dave Davis achieved the sound in Your Really Got Me not by a pedal or amp but by a tear in a speaker cone, such was the level of tech in the early sixties.

I stack amps and use delay combo effects (Flanger/Chorus/Compression+delay) usually but prefer to do that with sounds ive made so i have the attack and filters adjusted for legato layers and typically have a few things linked with the amp eg to fake Round Robin.
