My Pandora Stomp is great for my guitar hobby through headphones (Sennheiser HD490, and others), but very harsh on top strings through amplifier (80's Rowland Cube 40). Sounds like the strings are buzzing on the frets! Now trying a new Fender Acoustasonic 40 amp - just as bad. Tried reducing Stomp output, and Cab Through on/off, and obviously turning down the treble, still bad, even with another (new) guitar. Sounds better with a small hifi external speaker fed from the Cube 40. Wonder if the "whizzer cones" on the Fender amp (Cube 40 has something similar) are picking up high frequencies from the Stomp? No problem playing straight into either amp or with Stomp on bypass (but no effects!). Can anyone suggest a fix for the Stomp, OR a compact guitar amplifier that does give a good sound with the Stomp. Ps, I play most styles, but not heavy metal.
David

Hi,

Mmmh. I don't have the pandora or the cube.

But some tips of which you might have tried already some.

* make sure the amp is set up in a neutral way. Meaning if you insert your guitar directly into the amp, make sure it sounds as dry and flat as possible. No effects and so on.
* don't use cab settings on the stomp
* set the output of stomp low enough when going to the amp to not overdrive the amp
* try batteries in the stomp

* start with a neutral patch on the stomp and see how it behaves with the amp

Good luck

Thankyou OpAmp, I tried the suggestions, reduced Stomp output helped a little as did editing the effects. Also tried a new Vox amp. The solution was to buy a Caline CP-24 10 band equaliser (£30-40). With this I can take out the harsh treble on top strings without losing tone (which I couldn't do with tone controls) and it's so easy to use. It's plugged into the Stomp output to amplifier, so doesn't affect the Stomp headphone sound which was always good. Now I don't have to edit all the Stomp programs that I use for amplifier.
