Just confirming you mean the Korg i3 (2020)?
P
The "real" i3 had some of the best styles Korg ever produced - I still use them!! _________________ PA4X-76, Karma, WaveDrum GE, Fantom 8 EX

Yes agree - it would be nice to borrow one for a while and see what it is all about.
I think its name needs to be changed - "i3" makes no sense whatsoever.
I couldn't figure whether to add it into the "i-series" section or not
I wonder though, if it actually lives up to its name - the original was hard to beat.
Take care

I heard that micro ARRANGER and i3 wore the same style structure…. The new update 1.5 I downloaded and started to take it apart they put new styles inside of it but most of the operating system now is password protected it wasn’t that way before that I remember….
Now that I have to stay home because of the coronavirus I have more time to look into it or someone who owns and i3 would be kind enough to save all the ram styles and share with us…
And as for karmathanever… Why…
amwe all know it’s for money,,,,
as always I could be wrong and I usually am just asked my wife ha ha..
but for now everybody stay healthy and keep making music.. _________________ The Gold Standard OS 2.2

Yes I did try a few different passwords including i3 in others even some total numbers that I found, but it did me no good but they do have in their a file called EK 50… So it appears,,, I just checked this a new update for the EK 50 os 2 …..
And here’s what I put in it…
We are happy to announce the EK-50’s new System Updater Version2.
New featured functions:
- A "UserStyleLoad" menu has been added to the MEDIA functions. You can now load and use MOST* Pa50, Pa50SD and microARRANGER user styles on the EK-50.
*There are some styles that for various technical reasons cannot be converted to function on the EK-50. We make no guarantee that every style will function completely correctly.
- You can now save variation and intro settings when saving your style to a set list..
I’ll have to stop and look for the update and look into that ,,,
stay healthy..
I just looked into the both now, these two keyboards are really close together the PCM is not much difference in size and all, either way that’s probably all that I can do with this for now, even if I could break into it I wouldn’t know what to do, I’m just curious…
Korg probably has millions of styles ,
but again how many 6/8 styles do you need it they all sound the sam or close so it.. That’s all for now _________________ The Gold Standard OS 2.2

I own the new i3 and it is basically an EK-50L without speakers. It also has an easier sequencer and more features than the EK-50. Internally, it is the same as the EK-50. I believe that it is more user-friendly than the EK though.
I bought mine for live use as a bottom keyboard with passable piano sounds that sound good in a layer with the other keyboards I use live (Korg PA700, Korg M50, Ensoniq VFX - and soon to have a Behringer Deepmind-12 and maybe a few more synths for good measure).
I have used the i3 live already, once, and it worked well. I wanted something easy to use that I could play sounds from and layer with other sounds (program changes turned off). The pianos, bite well in the mix, as do the synths (saw synths), EP's and string type sounds.
The thing is light as can be. It is the lightest keyboard I own. I am a little iffy on the texture of the case though, as I think that it will gum up after a few years of ownership and get sticky.
Does it match up to the original i series? Nope, not in a million years.
What it does do, though, is get people into music and it is geared toward the beginner user. It is basically, a repackaged EK-50, which is, in effect a repackaged MicroArranger. If memory serves, it uses the similar waveforms that the Triton did, so the sounds are rather dated (although they've updated it a bit, possibly).
Maybe they should have named it differently, like perhaps the i20 or maybe even something else. Even nomenclature like EK-Pro or something like it would have been more appropriate. Maybe they thought they could generate more interest if they gave it something that was much more successful.
I reviewed the new i3 in the section made for it (thank you for creating it). I go into more detail there.
I am going to dig more into it, since I have all of this time off due to the Coronavirus stuff. I am not working now, so I have a lot of time to dig into my keyboards in ways that maybe I could not have before.
Grace,

Could someone give a try? |
I do not believe you can, as the sounds are all different on the i3 than on the PA4X (or the PA700 and PA1000).
I believe that the only way to get the styles into something other than the i3 (and maybe the EK50) is to create a MIDI file and then use the Style Bot Creator on the PA4x and have it try to decipher what was recorded in that file.
In addition, the STS settings on the i3 cannot be changed. You have to create favorites (also known as Keyboard Sets on the bigger PA models).
Again, I doubt they would work on the PA4X.
