This old thread of mine has links to a bunch of string machine programs.
The first post has a Google Drive link for an ARP Omni Emulator and a bunch of various 1980s sounds.
Further down is a link for some 70s String Machine emulations. They're in a PCG format, so PLEASE make sure you back up your own data before installing.

Thank you very much, Broadwave, I didn't know these sounds. Very good tones. I am particulary impressed by the first one : ARP Omulator.
I would not imagine it'd be possible to get such a sound with an FM engine. Solina, Elka and Crumar are very good, too. They sounds really vintage to my ears !
The Control Surface settings are really well made and provide a real practical sound setting.
