Hi all - I just got the new Kronos after 20 years with a Korg Triton. Extremely happy and blown away but I have a quick question regarding volume and live performances.

I see the main volume knob as well as a master Slider. My thinking would be to have the Main volume Knob set at a relative constant position and have the "master slider" about 3/4 up with Room to boost up for a lead ect.. I created/saved a few of my staple piano/ electric piano and organ sounds. The master slider will adjust the volume on the pianos but will not adjust organs - On organ patches it is assigned to something else but I can't figure out how to assign the master slider to work overall volume on the organs I created. Any thoughts?? I could be going about the whole process wrong - but I'd like to be able to adjust volume with a slider rather than the main volume knob. Thanks in advance!

You should consider a volume pedal. It can be selectively assigned to any timber. I don't use the master slider because the panel mode has to be set for it to work and I use the 9 sliders for organ drawbars which means it doesn't work for volume. With the pedal, It always works to whatever I assign it to.

I just checked my K. Regardless of where the master slider Is positioned, if I select a new combi, the volume will be at max. Then it can be used to adjust the total sound. And, it works for organ too.

Same here on my K.

I think owners should be aware that Programs, various Kronos midi instruments will vary in perceived ' volume'.

Kronos makes heavy use of Fx. Fx and EQ will contribute to increased ' volume'.

For example, drum kits are slamming loud- at least to my ear.

Distorted guitars- sure, they are loud. Due to Fx Gain, tube modeling, etc etc.

And some of the Organ programs, have distortion, compression or grit, by program design.

Hi there,

Master slider works the same for the CX-3 organs. It's just that many factory programs are set by default on Tone adjust for the control surface. So on many CX-3 organ programs, the "master slider" becomes/emulates the ninth drawbar, as it should be on a real Hammond organ. By selecting RT knobs instead, master slider works as it should.

To start any program with a different initial volume (or in a different control surface initial setting), simply save the program after you adjusted those parameters. Note that there is also a volume adjust parameter in Set List mode for any program/combi you want to add there. Hope this helps.
