|
|
I have a Kronos and a Oxygen 61 controller. Have it working perfectly so I play a patch in a combination on the controller while playing everything else on the Kronos, but I can't figure out how I can use the joystick on the Kronos to use with the patch I'm playing on the Oxygen- for example a synth lead part that could greatly benefit from utilizing the joystick. Any help would be greatly appreciated- Thanks!

You can try using KARMA to do this. The trick is not have any of KARMA's GEs turned on to Run. We'll use Karma to route the Kronos's joystick to the midi channel you want when KARMA is on.
Quick example:
Start with an init combi. Set timbre 2 to your oxygen's midi channel. And for timbre 2, set a pitch bend range Timbre Parameter's Pitch section.
Now go to the KARMA GE Setup page for Module A and uncheck the RUN box.
Turn ON KARMA.
Play your Oxygen controller and move the Kronos's pitch bend joystick. It should work.
Edit: Just going to add that without further changes, every controller on the Kronos is likely to change Timbre 2 at this point. If you only want the joystick, but not the damper pedal and knobs, for instance, then you need to go to the KARMA MIDI Filter screen and uncheck everything but the Joystick in the Receive section. |

Harry, can you be a little more specific with what you are trying to do? I feel like I kinda understand but I want to be sure.
Karma really shouldn't have anything to do with what you are trying.
I will try my best to help though. |

In this context, we're only using KARMA as a MIDI router/filter for Kronos's controllers, letting both the Oxygen and Kronos's controllers affect a timbre while preventing the Kronos's keyboard from playing that timbre. It's a pretty useful technique. |

yes... maybe.
But now after reading his post again, I completely understand what he's trying to do.
The easy solution would be to go to the MIDI/FILTER tab in the combi mode and then turn off the joystick for every "midi part" that you don't want to respond to the joystick movements.
I really believe that would complete his request. _________________ Please subscribe and follow me on Youtube and Facebook for information related audio technology.

yeah, no telling. lol....
I know the solution I gave him will allow him to make this exact adjustment on just about any MIDI enabled device... KARMA being limited to Kronos and a few other pieces of equipment is or would be kinda isolated and the long way to achieve a very easy goal.
Either way, as long as he gets what he needs, I'm happy! _________________ Please subscribe and follow me on Youtube and Facebook for information related audio technology.

One way or another, we'll get them sorted. Hopefully. :) If they come back. I've lost count of the number of first time posters who disappear... not saying that will happen in this instance. |

On a related note, I’ve got several Combi’s where I’m sending the organ voice(s) to MIDI channel 2, where I have my Triton Extreme connected.
Some of the patches allow the TEX joystick to control the Leslie effect, and some are controlled by the joystick on the Kronos alone.
I haven’t taken the time to dig in and uncover the discrepancy, as I can quickly figure out which controller is active, but it would be beneficial to know where that is configured and how to select the specified controller instead of leaving it up to providence.
For some reason, most of the time I have difficulty locating where the joystick is configured in some of the engines. |

If it's on the Triton Extreme, just go to the effect section. Pull up the tab that has the rotary organ effect and there should be a parameter called "speed switch" or something like that. check there first and make sure it's something like "js+y or js-y .... Joystick + or - y (joystick up or down)
I would think that it would always read one of those options unless it has been changed manually. I guess it could also be cc01 (modulation) which would kinda make sense too. That may explain why it works from the midi cc parameter vs the internal joystick parameter.
Let me know if this does not make sense. _________________ Please subscribe and follow me on Youtube and Facebook for information related audio technology.

apex - thanks, but I’m only using the TEX as a MIDI controller to the Kronos. The Combi’s and Programs reside on the K2 and thus control the joystick and such.
Hope this helps to clarify? |

ok. the same process will work on the Kronos and it should show you the control source for the Kronos.
make sure the leslie speed switch is set to cc01. You should be good then. (i believe) _________________ Please subscribe and follow me on Youtube and Facebook for information related audio technology.

yes definitely. in and out. with the 1 question |
Well, Apex, let's add one more to the count of in and out with the 1 question, I suppose. LOL. I'm not even upset about it... just the nature of forums. But at least you replied to my posts, and you got to help someone else here. Not a total waste of time. :) |
