|

Hi!
There seems to be a problem installing the RNDIS driver for the Wavestate in Windows 10 2020 april/may update (2004).
I have tried installing in two completely clean-installed machines for troubleshooting and to rule out everything else.
I have followed the standard procedure by installing the Microsoft "USB RNDIS Driver" on both machines.
In W10 1909, everything works as intended and the RNDIS driver pops up under network connections, whereas in W10 2004, it gets stuck under "Other devices / RNDIS" . I am more than happy to provide more information if you want to.

Thanks for posting! To clarify: does it work to connect to the wavestate? _________________ Dan Phillips

Hi!
Sorry for being a little vague in the first post, but no, with Win 10 2004 version the wavestate does not connect. No problems with 1909.
This should be fairly easy to reproduce. I installed two fresh windows installations, one with 1909 and one with 2004. Attached the wavestate and performed the install of the RNDIS drives as of the instructions. Then I installed the librarian in both OS:es and in 1909, everything works, but in 2004, RNDIS driver stays under "other devices" in device manager, and the librarian gets stuck at "waiting for device".
And - a big kudos to your team for bringing this cool little machine to the world. The old Wavestation is one of my favourite synths of all time, and this is clearly a worthy successor.

Thank you for the information. I'm sorry for the difficulty - and I appreciate your kind words about the instrument!
Just to make sure, are you using the "Rev B" version of the Windows installer? I assume so, but it's good to confirm.
Thanks again,

I am not 100% sure what installer you mean, but the windows installer I used on the test that does not work is the following. (Downloaded from MSDN/My Visual Studio).

Same problem here.
Windows 10 64 bit version 2004. No RDNIS.
Updater and librarian do not see the wavestate.
firmware 1.03
librarian 1.0.1
updater 1.03 Rev A
Installation as described in the manual.
Very frustrating. A few hours lost for nothing. |

Worth to notice here is that for me, in a clean 1909 environment, it works as expected. In a clean 2004, it does not. |

Had the same problem with my Mac, had to reinstall
the librarian and get the driver RDNIS on the web and installed it. I had the message ''waiting for device'' Now it works fine. |

Correct me if I am wrong @Dan, but I suspect that if Korg confirms this to be an incompatibility with the new version of Windows (2004), I would expect it to require a firmware update of the Wavestate.
Right now I am using a version of 1909 inside a virtual machine to run the librarian as a workaround. |

@heder: I am afraid a firmware update of the Wavestate would not help since you cannot update it with the updater.
From my point of view the problem is an issue with the RNDIS driver from Microsoft. A solution could be that Korg provides a dedicated Wavestate driver. Otherwise we risk the same issue over and over again every time Microsoft updates Windows.
In the mean time I have found out that the Wavestate works just fine with my DAW (Cubase pro) by using the generic USB-MIDI driver. Of course with the RNDIS driver it doesn't work. _________________ Current Gear:

Same problem, worked on a clean install of 1909, now that windows update, no luck. Really bummed, because I just purchased some new libs that I can't even use, now. I really wish Korg could come up with something a bit less finicky. |
