Revamping my home studio and just dusted off my old Korg Wavestation EX. I am picking up a battery warning and I seem to have only partial waveforms available. The manual suggests having a service center replace the battery and am wondering if this can be accomplished at home. Also, what is the possibility of retrieving the old data? Appreciate any suggestions. Cool

The battery can be replaced relatively easily, if you're familiar with repairing electronic gear.

The sounds can be reloaded via SysEx, using something like MIDI-Ox and a suitable MIDI interface. The relevant data files can be downloaded from here:

For the EX, the Factory file will be necessary, and possibly also the EX_RAM3 file for the external RAM card, if that has to have its battery replaced.
