|
|
Hello!!
I've just updated my Minilogue software after learning about the new microtuning feature, which I was excited to discover as I am really getting into microtonal music these days and have been experimenting with the 23TET/23EDO tuning system.
I used Sevish's scale workshop https://sevish.com/scaleworkshop/ to generate a .kmb and a .scl file, after recommendation from a prominent member of the xenharmonic online community (stephen weigel) because I could not get Scala to run on OSX Catalina.
However, when I try to load the tuning files via the Minilogue Sound Librarian, it doesn't really seem to work out. With a bit more investigating, I have begun to suspect that my mission may not be achievable. Is it actually possible to map a tuning with 23 equal divisions of the octave with this new microtuning feature? It seems like the fact you can only detune each key by + or - 50 cents means that certain kinds of nonstandard tunings which approximate 12EDO are possible and the most obvious truly "xenharmonic" tuning possible would be 24EDO, but something like 31EDO would not work here.
Have I missed something? Am I just not understanding how this new microtuning feature works? I would really love to get this working so that I can use my minilogue alongside a guitar refretted to 23EDO.
There are soft synths out there which can handle xen tunings, but it would be really great if I could use the minilogue for this.
Any help much appreciated,
