Is it possible in Song Mode to program the assign switches 1-3 to change to the Harmonies?
So if I have it set to a 3rd above and I hit switch 1, it changes to 1 above and 1 below, etc? If so, how do I do this?
Thank you.

Hi Steve

The switches can only be assigned to operate the functions listed on page 838-840 in the latest UM

You cannot achieve your harmony control with switches.

If Korg ever let us have a MIDI implementation manual we might (I repeat "might") figure out how to do exactly what you are asking here - perhaps with a MIDI pedal

Take care

Thank you for the honest reply. I don't know what the developers were thinking when they decided to include TC Helicon. Not every song use one harmony part. Right now I control the Harmony level with a foot-switch which is nice but being able to go to 3 part harmony on the bridge of a song would have been a nice function if I could just tap the Assign 1,2 or 3 buttons. Sorry, just dump design.

I suppose people who are responsible for programming those instruments don't use it in daily life at all. I would like to be wrong.

You are correct. I am an Electrical Engineer and I have to always think of the end user and what is really needed when designing something.

That's why they need to have a bunch of super-users to be on a panel when thinking of coming out with a new product.

It's fine balance when designing something because of the cost of a feature that might only be used by less than 10% of your Customers.

Korg should have a look at some of Ketron's technology. You CAN assign a different VH setting to each style variation.
I don't use it, but it's available.
P.S. But Ketron doesn't even HAVE programmable buttons! Smile

First of all, before a full MIDI implementation documentation becomes useful, you actually have to have MIDI control of everything. In practice, not everything is... There’s a big difference between OS control of a parameter and MIDI control.

We were kind of spoiled for MIDI control back in the 90’s, because so many manufacturers made module versions of the main workstation engines, which is what the arrangers were based on. But the trend lately has been away from rack modules, so manufacturers aren’t designing their OS’s to be run by any external hardware you have, just their own front panels, which does away with the need for MIDI addresses for everything.

Shame, really, but kind of expected...
