|
|
I was about to score a M50-73 for a fair price, but upon trying it I realized that not all keys have the same resistance, the upper octave having considerably less resistance.
Also, upon release - when you press them to the bottom and let them spring back they vibrate for about 2 seconds, to the point that you can hear the "oinkkkkk" like on some spring. Is that how it is or is the keybed-keyboard faulty? _________________ The end is near |

If memory serves, the M50-73 has a semi-weighted action keybed on it. Maybe that means that there are small weights or something under the plastic keys to give it a bit of weight, but not as much as a true weighted action you might find on an 88-key keybed.
It sounds like the keybed is not working quite right and/or that it needs to be cleaned pretty good. Without a proper diagnosis, it would be hard to say just from what has been typed about whether or not it is a good deal or not.
It may be as simple as giving it a thorough cleaning and it would work. It may be as difficult as having to rebuild the keybed (springs, etc...). I gues there is no real way to tell unless we could take it apart.
Grace,

Thank you Harry, I much appreciate your input. Definitively something is bad with the keybed. But the guy that is selling it is 150 kilometers away, and I already made 300 km today just to look at it. I think I am going to pass it this time.
Thank you again, all the best! _________________ The end is near |

|
|
I fixed it temporarily by cutting out little plastic strips from blister packs I had laying around. I cut them about 2 and half inches long and about half inch wide. Then I bent them at about 90 degrees or so and slipped them under the keys, bent part first and they stayed in place due to the lip of the key.
Then I adjusted the bend of the plastic depending on the key and it's feel.
You can't see them when in place and it felt way better than the flimsy bouncy feel and it's completely harmless and reversible. Not a perfect fix, but worth trying. |
