|
|
Hi, My first post here and it is a slight cry for help!
I have an old Wavestation SR that I have owned for maybe 17 years. Everytime I power it up, I am getting the old 'Battery needs replacement' notice. Hardly surprising considering the age of the unit. My question of course relates to loss of data. I am aware if I change the battery, the ROM sounds will still be present when I repower the unit back on after the change. I am of course aware that I may lose the RAM settings. Can anyone talk me through the process of saving my data/what to do etc but please bear in mind, technical terms will go right over my head here.
Many thanks in advance. |

I don't know the SR but I have an XT. when I change the battery, I keep my Wavestation plugged in to the AC power. I haven't done it in a while now but I think I might have even done it while it was turned on. You just have to be careful. I haven;t unplugged mine in a few years.
Hope this helps. If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask.

Hi,
Thanks very much for your reply.
Interesting way of having a go at it. I haven't turned the thing on for a couple of weeks as hopefully this will keep the battery life to a minimum. I will think about that technique. I've certainly attached live wires back into a plug with the electric still on before. You just have to be rather careful and fully focused. |

No worries! Glad to be of help. I don't know about yours but the battery in mine is in a little holder. I have to pry it out. I guess if my fingernails were longer I could do it easily but I like to keep them short so I carefully use a small precision screw driver. Being very careful not to touck anything else but the battery and the plastic holder. _________________ If music is the food of love, play on and play loud!

It's been telling me for about 5 months that it wants the battery changed but I feel I really have to do something about it now. We always seem to sometimes put off the inevitable.
I'll just make sure I write out my will before I crack on as the wife will never forgive me if it all goes wrong.
I am going to have a crack at it this weekend so fingers crossed.
Thanks once again buddy. |

Glad to be of help! It's not all that difficult. Just a bit fiddly! _________________ If music is the food of love, play on and play loud!
