Hi there and welcome to the forum,
Scale/temperament is an instrument parameter, so it is determined by choosing the correct Kronos instrument in your sequence. For an exotic user-defined scale/temperament, you simply customize it in Global mode, then assign and save the instrument with this particular custom scale. So you could have for example an acoustic guitar program in ET (equal temperament) and the exact same sound with a custom non-ET scale in a different program. On the other hand, pitch bend MIDI events are of course part of the song/sequence. |

Like KK says you choose your scale at the instrument or program level.
For example, in program mode find the Bali Gamelan. When you play the keyboard it is not using the gamelan scale by default. So you change the scale to slendro instead of equal temperament. This is done on the Program / Basic page where you also choose voice poly or mono. Don't forget to write the program to save its new scale type.
But now you go to song mode and choose the Bali Gamelan for track 3 and play it there. It is not using slendro anymore, why? You must go to the Track Parameter page, and on the Pitch tab you will find all 16 instruments can have their own individual scale, or not. At the bottom for track 3 select the box Use Program's Scale.
Don't be tempted to change the Type from Equal Temerament to slendro. This will make all 16 instruments use slendro! Ouch. |

What if your oriental scale is not listed under the instrument scale types? You can make your own User Scale.
Notice in program mode on the scale parameter you have 15 user scales. You design your own scale in global, on the User Scale page. This is where you must know how each note in your oriental scale compares to western equal temperament.
Click the HELP button or check the parameter guide for details. |
