Has anyone sorted out a reasonable balance in the use of the
assignable buttons which can be set up when hand and foot
balance are looked at.
Master Volume and Balance, are self explanatory but the list in the drop
menu has all sorts of variances which can be used in the assignable
knobs 1 and 2.
No problem with the 1000 or its big brother but I have never seen
any comments about the use of these buttons.

I have the PA700, but I have the same knobs as you do on the PA1000. I assign mine to control the input volume of whatever is coming in from the Audio Inputs (Knob 1) and the MP3 Playback Volume (Knob 2).
