|
|
Hello everyone,
I just bought a PA700 and having been a YAMAHA PSR-S710 owner I immediately realized that I didn't have the "Sustain" button available.
At the moment I would like to avoid buying a pedal for the "Sustain" by having the "Hold" function available that I can assign to certain instruments. But by default I realize that this function lengthens the duration of the key played too much.
Some questions:
- Is there a way to set the duration of the played note (Sustain) with the "Hold" function?
- Is there a way to enable the "Hold" function at the same time as all the instruments I use to play?
- If there is such a possibility, can I activate this function thanks to one of the assignable keys?
Thanks so much in advance for the support !!! |

The 700 has assignable buttons, to save me looking at the manual if you press and hold the Shift button then press Assignable button 3 you will have a pop up menu on the LCD screen showing what is available.
If what you seek is not buy a switchable polarity sustain pedal they are less than 15 Euro _________________ Biggles

So, are you trying to add sustain to a sound without using a Sustain Pedal? In Korg-speak the sustain pedal is usually called the Damper (just FYI).
If you are looking to add sustain to a sound in a Sequence or in a Style, you can add sustain to just about any sound (the exception would be drum sounds, as they are usually single shot short samples and were not designed to be held in the normal fashion).
If you are trying to add sustain to a sound in one of the Upper/Lower sound selections, then while in the style, select the keyboard set (set up of to 4 sounds that would play live over a style), select the sound in question, go into the Menu (the button located next to the big rotary dial), go into Track Controls and then go into Sound Edit (located in the tabs at the bottom of the screen). From there, you would be able to adjust the Release setting from -63 up to +63. This will add sustain to the sound you have selected. The minus adjustments would shorten the release of the sound and the positive adjustments will add sustain to the sound. Depending on the sound, there might be artifact when increasing the release times...
The function above also works in Sequence Mode the very same way.
If you are in Sound Mode, then you would need to go into the sound itself and add positive values to the Release setting in that program, and for every oscillator in that program, that you wanted sustain on.
Keep in mind that sounds that have a natural decay, like piano, EP, and others, it will still decay even if have the keys pressed down. If you are just looking to add Sustain without using a pedal, the method above shold work.
Grace,
