You could use Protools for this. you can place a time signature at every variation, fill in ect. Not a problem to switch between 2/4 - 3/4 and 4/4 in the same style. |

@mattf: None of this has anything to do with when a 3/4 SMF is imported as a 4/4, just that if you enter "Record New Style" this new Style is initialized with 4/4 per default as you can see in your youtube video (1:08 - 1:12 StyleRecordMode, MainPage).
Also in manual you can read "when importing an SMF, parameters like .. Meter ... are recognized" - that is the basic meter (time signature as StyleSettingData) not to be compared with recognized meter change during import of a Midi sequence data in the middle of the song.
Before you press menue button and go to import button do the same as you do if you want to edit a new style: change time signature (default meter 4/4) and select to 3/4 or whatever you want, to get an import with that time signature, regardless of the meter specification of the SMF in reaper, awave, protools etc. _________________ kind regards
