Like the title says, I can't figure out how to have rests in the motion sequencer. I tried note probability to 0% and read the manua,l but I am not getting it. Surely there must be a way so any help is appreciated. |

So Dan Phillips answered this question over on the Gearspace thread if anyone else is having difficulty. His response is pasted below, he included the files on the other thread.
Rhythm Demo A: Uses the Shape Lane to create the rhythmic pattern. Steps that sound have Level = 100; rests are Level = 0. Filter Cutoff and Filter Output Volume are both modulated by Step Seq A, which uses the Shape Lane.
Rhythm Demo B: Uses Step Seq A to modulate Filter Output Volume, and Step Seq B to modulate Filter Cutoff. Rests in Timing Lane create rhythmic pattern. Both Step Seq A and B use the Shape Lane. Shape lane has 5 steps with different pulse-like shapes, and Step Seq B has 3 different values for the filter, creating additional movement above the basic rhythm pattern.
Rhythm Demo C: Uses Step Pulse to trigger the Amp and Filter envelopes, and Rest steps to create the pattern. (Pulse is not sent for rest steps.)
All of these use the Timing Lane at 16th notes. Yet another option would be to program the actual rhythm into the Timing Lane using different note values for the steps. This would also let you vary the Shape Lane pulse lengths. Many different approaches are possible! |
