|
|
Has anyone tried installing Kronos 2 system/firmware into a Kronos 1 or X? Or using the motherboard from a Kronos 2 in the earlier models? _________________ Korg Kronos 88 (288gb+3gb), Korg Kronos X 61, Alesis Fusion 6HD (60gb+384mb), Hammond XK1c, Moog Slim Phatty, Behringer Model D, Access Virus B, Oberheim Matrix 1000, Novation X-Station 61, Korg Trinity Pro (with Solo-Tri), Compac Univox II, Casio MT600 and PT82. |

You can easily update an older Kronos model to a Kronos 2 in terms of OS and sounds. |

Sure, thanks, but that is not the question here. _________________ Korg Kronos 88 (288gb+3gb), Korg Kronos X 61, Alesis Fusion 6HD (60gb+384mb), Hammond XK1c, Moog Slim Phatty, Behringer Model D, Access Virus B, Oberheim Matrix 1000, Novation X-Station 61, Korg Trinity Pro (with Solo-Tri), Compac Univox II, Casio MT600 and PT82. |

If the question refers to the sub system firmware, then no, the Kronos/Kronos X and Kronos 2 sub systems differ sufficiently for the firmware not to be compatible. The sub system firmware loader will not load onto incompatible hardware if you try to do so.

It is hard to find replacement motherboards.
It would be nice to get the Kronos 2 extra sounds without paying a premium price. _________________ Korg Kronos 88 (288gb+3gb), Korg Kronos X 61, Alesis Fusion 6HD (60gb+384mb), Hammond XK1c, Moog Slim Phatty, Behringer Model D, Access Virus B, Oberheim Matrix 1000, Novation X-Station 61, Korg Trinity Pro (with Solo-Tri), Compac Univox II, Casio MT600 and PT82. |

The sub-system firmware has nothing to do with replacement of the motherboard or obtaining extra sounds. It’s just for the dedicated ARM CPU that drives the MIDI ports, LCD, audio interface and control surface. They’re different between the Kronos 1 and 2, so not interchangeable.
The OS and sounds are interchangeable between the 1 and 2. You can buy the Berlin grand for the Kronos 1, as well as the extra sounds. (Exs18). If you just want the Exi based sounds, maybe someone could send you the PCG with the new sounds _________________ Current Equipment:
