List of Pa4x styles, not in PA5x.
Hi ,
I’ve been thru my PA4x styles, I put together a list that I don’t think are in PA5x.
I’ve cross checked via names.
Don’t be fooled by the names . ie you might have funky ballad in both keyboards, but not necessarily 100% identical style.

Hi Uday
Replied to your PM.
Also, be aware that some styles from previous models may have the same style name but are in fact different - also, some styles have different names between models but are in fact the same.
I found this out and spent several hours comparing styles when I created the BonusWare SET for the PA4x
Cheers
Pete

Hi Uday, best way to check the Pa4x factory styles against is to set them to list view, alphabetical order. That way you can flick from the styles on thumb drive to factory styles so easily for auditioning. As Pete mentioned, don’t go by just the name. A Pa4x and PA5x may have exactly same name , but not exactly same style.
This list doesn’t include bonus styles from Korg website , we’re going to have a lot of styles
If you go find any double ups, please let me know.

Hi Rikki
When (if!!) I get my PA5x and the style loading bugs are fixed, I'll re-create a full SET of all the Bonusware for the PA5x and include PA4x styles that are not carried forward.
Quite a few Bonusware styles ended up as factory styles in the later PA4x OS upgrades - I reflected and fixed that in my Bonusware collection.
This is good (as you say) - there is a huge amount of high quality additional Korg-produced styles already there for us (and they're FREE - in-your-face Yamaha
)

styles in the PA5x , or the number’s don’t add up.
I think I read PA5x has more factory styles than Pa4x ( which of course wouldn’t include bonusware , maybe not even favourites styles) , even so, unless I goofed up and left some doubled up styles in my list, Korg must have given us some completely new styles as well.

Some bonusware styles definitely made their way into factory style banks as I've seen on PA3x and PA4x (some modified i-series styles crept in too!).
I would not be surprised if this is the same on PA5x - I understood that the PA5x had several new styles!! But as I don't own one I can't check...

(I posted this in another topic but it probably belongs here.)
I've done a comparison of the two keyboard style sets in columnar format from the Styles pages from the two manuals.
The headline information is that Pa4X has 584 styles - Pa5X has 649 styles.
I couldn't do a direct read-across because Korg introduced a new category on the Pa5x 'Classic Pop'. For comparison purposes, I merged the 'Classic Pop' styles with the styles in the 'Pop' category. Korg also introduced a new 'World' category on the Pa5X but this looks to be a rebadging of the 'Traditional' category on the Pa4X so I included those as 'World'. Also, on the Pa4X, there are 3 'Favorite' categories 'Pop', 'Ballad' and 'Dance'. For comparison purposes, I merged the styles in the 'Favorite' category with the 3 main Pop', 'Ballad' and 'Dance' categories.
Although it's not a conclusive comparison because, as you say, earlier styles may not be later styles even with the same name but I think you might find this useful for the exercise you're currently doing. I'd be happy to share a link to the comparison. It's in Excel format - have you got Excel or similar? If not, I can just PDF it.
Cheers

Hi Chris, that would be great. Not sure if I have any software that reads excel, but a copy in both formats would be brilliant, just in case.
I’ll send you a pm.
I’ve checked mine via photo copy of the manuals , not ideal. But I did also audition most of them , mainly just the intro’s.
It was easy enough working out what Pa4x styles weren’t on PA5x, lot harder working out what is totally new, mainly because of the bonusware styles. They don’t always have identical names. Ie wonderful Latin is now called wonderful bossa.
I’ve roughly counted about 180 new ? Styles. Depends on if I doubled up on bonus styles ie different name , but identical style.
I for some reason thought i, (before I bought it) it only had the PA4x styles , but modified to take advantage of the new fx.
Pleasant surprise to find quite a number of new ones.

It would be great if someone would assemble all of the missing PA4X styles and recent bonusware styles that work well with PA4X (so omitting the earlier ones with only two fills etc.) into a PA5X set. I sold my PA4X when I got the 5X, so I can't do it, but it'd be super helpful to have some of those styles like Lazy or Uptown Funk etc.
Incidentally, I noticed that this one "Soft Guitar pop" is actually in the PA5X with a slightly different name. It's on the last page of the Country section.

There's a lot of effort and time involved sorting out styles past and present.
...different styles but with the same name
...same styles but with different names
...same styles but with different instrumentation and, sometimes, style elements.
...etc...etc...
I spent many hours when building the PA4x bonusware SET sorting out duplicates and etc....
You have to play all the styles to really know what you are dealing with.....
