Hi and thanks for the nice comment. I play since forever (near to 50 years now) and I'm self-taught. I started with progressive stuff like ELP, electronic music, pop, etc. Then I decided to spend much more time with classical music, learning masterworks from great composers of the past and contemporary, etc. |

Hi and thanks for the nice comment. I play since forever (near to 50 years now) and I'm self-taught. I started with progressive stuff like ELP, electronic music, pop, etc. Then I decided to spend much more time with classical music, learning masterworks from great composers of the past and contemporary, etc. |
What? Self-taught? So I take it that you can read music and stuff, right? How long did it take you to learn to play the Schubert piece in the video? Finger work looks like it took a while to get down. Any advice to us struggling piano players learning new pieces? Let me guess, practice a lot  |

Hello again, yes I had to learn how to read scores otherwise you can't play classical.  I think it is very important to have a good sense of self-criticism to assess oneself while learning new pieces. The self-taught road is longer, but it can offer some advantages. About fingerings, what is interesting is that after several years, it comes naturally just as if you would have learned from a teacher. This particular piece took me several months, but I don't live out of music so I have limited time to practice. On the other hand I think the Kronos is very inspiring regardless of music style so it is always fun to play on it.  |

Very cool, not sure what I was thinking about the question regarding able to read music, not like we had Synthesia back in the day, although, there was SidPlayer for the C64 that I learned some songs : )
Thanks for the self-criticism note, need to keep that in mind. |

| No problem, it's always useful to share stuff on these forums. So in short, don't hesitate to learn pieces of any genre even if they seem difficult at first. By working hard and making sure everything is right as you advance, I believe anyone can learn anything. |

Thank you for your kind words. The reality though is I have a job not related to music at all to pay the bills and wish I could have lived out of music instead.   But I am still planning to hopefully do some concerts in the future. Here, it's almost impossible to do decent money with music. So for the time being, I just record a few youtube videos every now and then. |

My suggestion is to apply to "I got a talent" American or English.
I started playing the piano at the age of 11 (which is late). I graduated from junior music school, which lasts for the 6th year. Now I'm 67 years old, I have a hard time reading music, and playing with my left hand is hopeless. I play every day, but it's mostly related to improvisation and composing. In the 1990s, more precisely around the age of 20, I didn't play, because I was more tired of crying than playing, but since 2011 I have returned to my first love. I have significantly improved my right hand technique, but not my left.
I don't know how much you practice a day, but the technique you have is achieved by regular people playing for several hours every day. I'm really impressed. I wish you all the best.

| Hi Pedja and thanks again for the nice words. I would certainly be considered too old to go to contests like you mention but I continue to have ideas for future occasional concerts. About improving your left hand (LH), I am sure you can achieve it with some focused practice. People often think practice is boring, but if you are good at improvising, I am sure you can think of ideas to practice your LH more than the RH for a given time every day and making it enjoyable, before returning to your usual daily musical activities. It's the same with classical works, I must practice the sections I have a hard time and don't sound good much more than the ones I find easier, etc. |
