The mystery of the second missing 2nd voice on split? Help.

Post by MidiLech »

Got a Kronos picked up in 2019 or so. Haven't really played it much. Turned it on today and ran into odd issue I can't figure out. If I play a combo with a split or even start with a program and do quick split...the second voice is either silent or barely audible (like maybe you can hear a little reverb tail but nothing else). If you switch the upper and lower parts on the quick split screen the inaudible voice switches to other one. Factory demo seuqences sound like they're missing voices also. Resource load page shows the voices playing but they're silent. I reloaded the internal data from factory folder on internal SSD but same. Really frustrating.

Hoping maybe generous person might share idea. Seems like this would have to be a setting but I really can't find it and unclear how it would've survived reload of data.

Hi there,

Because the Quick Split and Quick Layer functions use parameters found in the initial sound chosen such as effects routing and others, the program selected for the layer or split can end up pretty different than in its "normal" state.

For example, choosing a program named ABC and doing a Quick Layer with a program named 123 might sound quite differently than doing the opposite scenario (starting with program 123 and then layering program ABC on it).

If you are talking about unedited Korg Kronos sounds, can you provide the name of the initial combi and then combi/program you add ?

Thx for posting KK.

Was going to say I checked all the effects settings. Like turned them off...no difference. Also rebooted and reinstalled factory settings. No change. Then in act of frustration I decided to sleep on it. Just turned on Kronos this afternoon and guess what? Now I can't reproduce the issue. Arrrgghghhh! lol

I'll holler if it comes back. So weird.

OK, if it happens again, make sure to mention which combi or program you first choose, then which one you add for layer or split so I could try on mine to see. Take care. 8)

Will do! Almost hope it comes back so it can be solved before it comes back at worst time. Maybe it’s some kind of Karma setting that’s hijacking the voice….dunno.
