Can Pa4X import User Sounds and Keyboard Sets from PA1000, assuming they do not use any user samples?

The samples used in the users sounds will be in different locations, on the other hand if the user sounds are sample based the user sounds will be loaded with the samples assigned to them.

Hello,
What you call „User Sounds“ are sounds numbered from 1 to 128 in each user bank (user01.pcg to user04.pcg and userdk01.pcg and userdk02.pcg) and the problem is not that the sounds are in different locations.

The problem is rather that kbdSets and styles have not entered the names of these sounds, but rather the bank number and the sound number of the user sounds. If a KeyboadSet now uses the fifth location of the second user bank as a sound, then it will use this location even if this sound is deleted or replaced by another one.
*
I think you can load sounds of Pa1000 as if they were Pa4x data , because the Pa4x and the Pa1000 have the same folder structure with its pcg banks. Therefore, user sounds of the Pa1000 do not need to be mapped if user sounds are loaded individually to the same location in the Pa4x, or you load each bank separately(user01 … 04.pcg and maybe user01.dk to userDk.pcg).
*
it is ok that sample based user sounds will create its assigned pcm samples while loading, but also with such sounds it is important to load the sound into the same location of pcg, else usersounds of keyboardsets would link to a incorrect location of the sound, also if sound exists with its pcm-samples assigned to.

Thanks for all the responses, even though they've left me a little confused. Wink

Maybe I should explain exactly what I'm trying to accomplish:

I've been using a PA1000. I have not loaded any custom samples.

... I have a bunch of user sounds. Almost all of them are just factory sounds, which I put copies of in User banks just for quick access (so all my favorite sounds that I use can always be found in my user banks), though there may be a few cases where I made some minor modifications.

... I have a bunch of user keyboard sets, which are combinations of those user sounds.

... I have a bunch of user styles, which are all copies of factory styles, the only modifications being tempo and what keyboard set is associated with them. (I forgot to mention styles the first time.)

I have now picked up a Pa4X. So I'd like to know if I can do the following, and if so, what the steps are:

* Export the user sounds, user keyboard sets, and user stlyes from the PA1000
then
* Import same into the Pa4X.

The Pa4X has no user data I care about, it's fine to wipe out anything there, it's just there from the previous owner.

Can this be done, hopefully easily?

Thanks! Just to make sure, is this the proper procedure to use (via USB thumb drive)?

On the PA1000: Media > Utility > Full Resource Backup

then on the Pa4X: Media > Utility > Full Resource Restore

Nope, backup files BKP can be used only on same keyboard ,for example on another pa 1000,not on pa4x.

You have to use save ALL function and save as set file in order not only to load it on pa4x,but also load idividual styles /programs kst if you wish.

Thanks! That seemed to do just what I needed.

For anyone else finding their way to this thread, this seems to be the quick answer:

On the source keyboard (PA1000 in my case), choose Media > Save All, leaving only the things you care about selected (in my case, that was Sounds, Kybd Sets, and Styles), and save to USB (which happened so fast, with no confirmation of completion, that I wasn't sure it had done it!).

Then on the destination keyboard (Pa4X here), bring over your USB stick and choose Media > Load, and you'll see a prompt telling you can't load all the items at once, so you need to navigate down one level, and load each item type separately (so in my case, it was three load operations... Sounds, Kybd Sets, and Styles). Everything ended up where I expected. Smile
