I have two quick comments

a) this year is a bit tough for me, work-busy-wise.

I am happy but overwhelmed.

I am on the field every day (7/7), play two hours at night when already exhausted, my hands aching, and I just have no space for a new learning curve. The pc3 sucked the last geekiness out of me.

I am sorry I couldn't find the time for testing the Lionstracs as I had half-promised to Rob.

But I will definitely give it a try before I think buying the kronos

b) the Italian synth forum on which some Roland and former-Roland guys spend their days bragging [and spewing Osama-supporting s**t, btw Rolling Eyes Confused ]

is FUMING about this thing. FUMING! Shocked

They had to shut down a thread today because of how harsh it had become.

They can't stand even hearing somebody talking about it

Which tells me...

... it has to be quite GOOD Laughing Twisted Evil

Tell me it comes in black though, because the red one is appalling and the grey/white is ho-hum...

Hi chilly.

Yes, the core engine is powered by Linux Sampler, but it's unlimited in the number of engines it can have.

Yes you can load your own VST's into it, but its not just a PC in side a midi controller. The OS integrates with the new software you load and makes it become part of the instrument and it's dedicated buttons and menus. So it always feels like a normal workstation even though it's entirely open ended.

Sharp.

The Groove XR is the new module synth version in black, you can read about it here. There are some videos from Musikmesse, more to come shortly.

Thanks guys...James, need help, this synth has no USB to MIDI on it which
means i have to use MIDI cables to connect and controll a DAW or VSTs.
I also understand that this is Computer and not a Keyboard and has its
own MIDI routing. Now, i just dont know how to controll a VST with this,
there is no MIDI response in Cubase when connected, i know it has to
probably do with its own MIDI routing...any help?
Another thing...how can i actually connect this to my Impakt Twin thru
TOS/SPDIF same as i do with my M3, also connected no response.
And the rest wil follow...
I also notice a very lil Latency, similar to playing VSTis sometimes.

Thanks

Nedim, it actually has no USB to midi capability or USB audio, sorry. It is all via the standard MIDI interface and using JACK. And audio is only via the audio outs on the rear.

It should be pre-configured for standard midi routing, so if you have a separate MIDI interface for your PC, hook it up and you will be good to go.

Dennis

PS: No offence m8, coz I KNOW you are a smart guy (truly Smile ) - but you have one heck of a learning curve in front of you....

Hi Nedim,

Your Mediastation was the first generation product sold five years ago by
Lionstracs and is no longer available. The operating system is version 3.x.
The graphics card is not supportable on the latest version of the OS.
We are currently on version 5.x for the Groove X-R.

The Groove X-R and the final OS that will be released when the Groove X-R
ships has USB MIDI support - we have so far tested PA2x, M3, Akai MPD32,
Korg NanoControl and NanoPad. They all work fine.

You will need to upgrade the OS on your Mediastation to the same version
as ships on the Groove X-R, and then we will provide support for you on the
user forum at http://corcyraglobal.com . The graphics card on
your Mediastation will need to be changed before you can run OS5. The card
needed is a proprietary one that has LVDS outputs to handle the internal
touch screen and an external monitor. It is available only from Domenico.

If you had contacted me earlier, I would have advised you about the need
for a video card upgrade before you committed your money.

I can't provide further support on the Korg forums pages, sorry.

Best regards,
Rob
