Hello just wondering, anyone using the electribe sampler 2 and the jdxi? I'm hoping to connect them so that they work as seamless as possible but with all this fixed midi channel with no settings has left me confused.

Ideally I'd like to use the keys on the jdxi to program and the sequencer from the es2 to start/stop sync in tempo with the jdxi

What happened to 16 assignable channels???

Anyone use thes boxes without a pc/Mac have workflow mapped out

Thanks in advance 🙌[/img]

I had the chance to try a JD-Xi together with my E2S. The MIDI implementation of both machines is weak and inflexibile. Because of this fact I think it is impossible to create a useful setup w/o any additional hardware boxes (like MIDI filters) Crying or Very sad Both machines could be a dream team.

Apparently there is a well-hidden sysex command that allows the JD-Xi to reassign its midi channels (it defaults to 1,2,3 and 10). Perhaps this could help?

I'm currently working on an iPad editor for the JD-Xi so I'm digging into its midi specs... If I find something useful I'll report back.

I don't mean to nerco post but I am currently trying to use this! Did you ever figure it out? I got them synced and I have it where my electribe is my master and the JD-XI is the slave. I am currently primarily just using it to sample and play along with but I was having an issue where one of my snare pads was triggering some sound from the JD-XI, but nothing else was. I was trying to figure out what by turning everything down and it was still adding some sound to my snare. I tried setting the Midi channel to my electribe to 4 because the Jdxi is using 1-2-10-3 but that didn't help, but I switch the midi filter to short and it stopped producing the sound.

I am using them both, either synced, or sequenced and controlled by my DAW, with a Roland MX-1 as master clock. I don't use the electribe to sequence external gear at this time. I have only actually tried that with my MS20 Mini which, of course, will only receive on MIDI channel 1. If it were me, I would probably just be sure to save pads 1,2,3 & 10 for JD-Xi patterns. Using the JD-Xi as your controller for the electribe while also using it as a sound source as sequenced by your electribe will take some tricky midi filtering and will likely still leave you switching your MIDI channel for each pad. Maybe it is simpler than that, but I don't have mine set up that way, so without feeling my way through it, I cannot provide you with the recommended settings. I am not using the JD-Xi as a MIDI controller. When I am dawless jamming, I make sequences on both sequencers and they are synced to my MX-1. When I am writing in my DAW, the DAW is either the sequencer, and the electribe and JD-Xi are both sound modules, or the dawless sequences are synced to the DAW. It is probably important to mention that I use a different MIDI controller though.
Anyway, this is how I am using them!
