I have no doubt this is tru as the person who provided this info was 100 % correct about MPC touch.

SO I expect to see this new drum sampler from Roland and two other products from Akai at NAAM.

My only question is if we are going to see something derived from the mv series or if it will be derived from the boss sp series.

This takes me back to before the E2 dropped.
Was that only last year?

Everyone should just assume it can only record one sample at a time in 8 bit for 4 seconds. It has no knobs or pads, and only a mono 1/8" output. Requires 16 D batteries to work too.

That way when/if it IS announced, you'll all be pleasantly happy instead of pissed and disappointed after working yourself up with baseless speculations over the coming month.

alot of speculation is natural in the absence of info

but defo too early to say RIP electribe sampler; it would depend if the new unit is in the sub £500 price range

despite the plus points of the electribe and the fun factor; korg missed an opportunity to make something really special/timeless

yeah the sample handling is a bit arcane; not sure why they mad that design choice.

When I saw the usb port on the new tribes I thought that u could just connect directly to the PC and drag and drop samples onto the sampler

turns out that was a pipe dream but there is no reason why this should not be the case.

Also they could of had a partner application which when u connect to the PC loads up and gives u a visual representation of the sampler on screen, where u could assign samples, configure default parameters and have that be saved as ur initial patch when offline.

so if rolands new sampler can do this will prolly jump ship; and I think roland already had this technology when they came out with the sp606

I'll never purchase another korg unit new, due to the company's s**t PR, and the fact the e2/es2 could have, no, should have been so much easier to use. The only thing that stops me getting one secondhand is the crap way samples are handled! I have an old Roland SP-505 that uses SmartMedia cards and that is easier to use and uses samples DIRECT from the card!! Hear that korg? DIRECT from the card! No, course they don't, cos they don't even look on this forum, that's how much korg give a toss about their customers!!!

Come on now, they had a guy come ask us how old we are, they must care some......

the specs are from the fa-06/08´s internal sampler, which is cool except for the lack of time stretch, bpm detect and multisample edit. there´s one dedicated sampler track within the fa´s 16-track sequencer. you can stream 4 stereo or 8 mono samples from the sd card simultaneously. btw, no latency whatsover. i guess the new sampler groovebox will perform way better in these regards. gee, i´m so glad that roland – as one of the big three (japanese) manufacturers – is finally back in the game. the os will be stable as a rock, that´s for sure.

akai´s new standalone flagship mpc w/windows embedded. it´ll have an intel i5 inside, plus probably ssd like kronos. akai´s very own pete goodliffe is a good programmer, but to have only one guy for maintenance and debugging of the mpc software won´t do the job properly imo. roland´s team is way bigger and therefore their machines are more reliable imo. i really hope they impliment fantom g´s super-easy phrase list into the new box. i´d buy it in a second. first ableton with push 2 and now roland.. boy, akai has to put more weight behind its flagship efforts. they should set a target shipment date of early 2016. but my guess is they´re all hiding in the panic room of their headquarters in cumberland, rhode island.

p.s.:
