The Volca Sample Editor is a set of MaxForLive devices that can take samples from any instrument inside Ableton Live. You can specify the start and end points and transfer it to your Volca Sample. It’s integrated into Ableton Live. There’s no other device or software involved.

I’ve translated the SYRO library for MaxForLive to communicate with the Volca Sample.

It can be automated from any MIDI device with 16 dials and 16 buttons. A preset for a Midi Fighter Twister is included, but a cheap NanoKONTROL will also fit the bill.

The Volca Sample Editor is written for MaxForLive 6. It is not tested for MaxForLive 7.

This is a first version. It supports editing and transfer of single samples.

I’m planning to implement into a future version:
- Combining samples into a sample set
- Sampling drum kits into a sample set
- Saving sample sets
- Transferring sample sets to the Volca Sample in one go

The Volca Sample Editor is free software.
