Hey I thought it might be a good idea to mention where we are in the world.

So lets start with me.

mabcomp (John) is in Lincolnshire in the UK. The reason I think this may be beneficial is because you may find there's another PA4 User just up the Road and each can share useful ideas and information.

OR if you live in San Diego you could invite me for a holiday Laughing

Hi John and all, even though I was born in London and grew up in Eastbourne (where people go to die 😉), I have (for the last 7 years) been living in San Jose, California (in the heart of Silicon Valley, very near Apple, Google, Facebook etc). Great weather and lifestyle here but a really expensive area in which to live. Am about an hour from San Francisco, Santa Cruz, Monterey etc. and they have a really vibrant blues and jazz scene here (including big festivals etc.). Gig pay is very bad though and averages $100 or less per person and much of that comes from 'tip bucket walks of shame'. My last main UK performance was on Ant and Decs Saturday Night Takeaway TV show, so the money side of things here came as a real shock! (Probably why we're all playing the blues over here! 😉)

Best wishes,
Jon

Hi Jon

I can relate to all those places you mention as Ive been to all of them. Even sat In the Creek with my Wife at Big Sur and had a drink. Ive had a lot of holidays all over the USA. I can never get used to the bucket system there, it doesnt seem right although I watched a band in Balboa Park San Diego collect a lot of Dosh so maybe sometimes it works. Ive sung at the famous Coronado Hotel , Coronado Island, San Diego and also in Santa Fe, Sedona and Big Fork Montana. I would live there tomorrow. Where exactly is the best Blues/Jazz scene in your vacinity as my closest friend is a great Guitar and Bass player and would love all that. By the Way I thought Santa Cruz was a lot like Skegness Smile)

Just as a point of interest my Best Friend Bruno's Neice Hayley Sanderson is one of the Singers in Britains Strictly Come Dancing. She recently toured with Rod Stewart.

Mabcomp, if it's any consolation, I live in the land of eternal winter - well, that's a bit of an exaggeration, really Smile - it's 15C here in Alberta today.

I don't think my old stomping ground in Stevenage, Herts. is doing that well today, though.Smile

Say hi to Hunny, I've a long-time Stevenage friend who's retired up there.
