Well. If we want this Electribe 2 situation to change, a petition at Change.org may help. https://www.change.org/start-a-petition?step=description
I am starting a petition at change.org and would like input.

Please list what you would like fixed for the Electribe 2 and/or Electribe 2 Sampler.

The only thing I can think of that I would like changed is: to be able to use the entire capacity of the SD card for long stereo samples Sounds Good

Also, who do you think we should address the petition to:

the guy who seems the most personable (even though he is the chief Analog engineer): Tatsuya Takahashi
or go way up,.. to one of the Directors at corporate: Makoto Kobayashi

I don't simply want to fill the petition with a bunch of small fixes. I am talking major fixes/problems or limitations.
I want to make the fixes sound achievable to the engineers. However, if they can't do it, they should simply release a SDK for the software, and the fans will work it out. Cool

Edit: I was also thinking about sending the petition to some corporate distributors (it may help).: product_support@korgusa.com info@korg.co.uk korg@cmi.com.au and info@korgcanada.com
But I am really interested in finding out who the Chief Digital Engineer is at Korg.

Nice one for stepping up and getting this under way. I hope people post realistic and reasonable suggestions and not just fill the thread with vented spleen.

I'd like the playback of Event Recordings to be able to synchronise with external sequencers, either via MIDI or the Sync In/Out. I think this is both reasonable and realistic!!

Good luck people... Very Happy

I followed the link - not up yet? So we accumulate feedback here? My $0.02:

1) Improve the step sequencer. Possible solutions:
a) using the track pad to enter gate and velocity while holding a pad or just allowing both dimensions of the touch scale to be assignable.
b) 3 steps - ghost / on / accent by repeatedly hitting a pad in sequencer mode - and the "meaning" of ghost and accent would respond to groove depth.
c) at the absolute minimum make the step sequence menu circular so you can left arrow from the on / off screen to the velocity screen. Many other submenus on the box are circular.
d) step record as many others have said.

2) Song mode or editable event recorder.

It is a great little box for 400 bucks and credit has to be given. But I don't understand handicapping it just short of "the" box when it is only a few weeks of engineering for a small team at a major company.

EDIT: BPM LFO's parameterized by musical values. Easy coding, in fact it probably more complex for them to map it to a continuous range.

thank you for the effort, cade!

as i mentioned in the other thread, my top 5 are:

1. pattern gap issue (long notes get killed when changing a pattern)

2. better voice management (even when no fx and no polyphony is activated, just 10-11 tracks can play simultaneously without voice stealing. why muted fx and tracks still use cpu?)

3. copy/paste bars (very essential for me to build complex repititions)

4. pre listening before loading samples

5. 8 bars per pattern (hope this can be done)

i assume this issues are not too complicated to implement (besides maybe 8 bars if this is hard coded)

I don't see why it would be impossible to change that.
Except they have thought this device for 4-bar since the conception of the hardware apparently..(with the 4 buttons on the right)
but as I said on the other thread, these four buttons could be used for others functions
(as momentary buttons for custom shortcuts for example...)
like on this video:
https://youtu.be/LIJgzNoplv8
and the number of the current bar could be displayed dynamically on the screen

I duplicate my wishlist here:

- copy/paste for bars
- no pattern gap when switching patterns
- faster boot and loading times from SD card (e2s)
- minimum waveform representation on the screen - for quick editing (e2s)
- streaming samples directly from the SD card (e2s)
- follow the playback position on the pads
- blinking leds in Part Mute to know the tracks who actually play
- display the steps in the Step Jump mode
- ability to enter MIDI notes via an external MIDI keyboard in the Sequencer mode
- Add additional resolutions: "8 binary" for example (which could already give us 8 bars ... to 8th ..)
- Choose the record resolution
- more ergonomy :
direct access to step edit (double tap on sequencer for example..the button blinks when the mode is active)
same thing with "Part Erase": double tap on this button, it blink, and we can erase directly a track (instead of a progressive erasure who depend of the playback position)

very important:
- release a SDK for the ES2/E2 (like for the Volca Sample) and make this open source so people can do some great apps for samples management, patterns editors etc.

Smile

- The note tails to carry on when pattern changes

- synced step jump so it stays in time on release

- real arpeggio

- pattern chaining

- transpose by hitting a note on the keyboard (like old electribes)

I think that in addition of this forum we can also find help from this facebook group (which is quite active...) :

I don't see why it would be impossible to change that.

Because that would imply to alter the data structure (see electribe/MIDI Implementation), where the patches, settings ans patterns datas are stored. Which would de facto break everything stored in ROM (factory patterns, whatever) with the PCM.

I for one would wish more and better MIDI functionalities on the e2:

  • MIDI Merge/Through
  • Correct MIDI IN/OUT filtering, including disabling the useless Program Change without filtering all MIDI messages
  • MIDI receive/transmit ON/OFF per part
  • MIDI channel choice per part (would allow part layering)
  • Unified UI for events editor: patterns, motion sequence
  • Evolved MIDI erase/copy/delete in pattern edit mode: note range, MIDI channel range, number of bars, source bar, destination bar, etc
  • Evolved MIDI transform events in pattern edit mode: +/- semitone, velocity, length, apply to a certain note range, MIDI channel or parts
  • Record with quantize off or alternate quantization: the sequencer is 96ppqn, it can do that
  • Realtime or destructive pseudo MIDI LFO to pitch, velocity, length value, or motion events (pan, volume) to simulate sidechain, tempo locked effects, whatever
  • Apply swing and groove values (i.e. destructive as opposed as realtime) to the events timing
  • Undo/compare for both destructive and realtime edits
  • Display MFX XY value
  • Some kind of Palette mode, to view/edit a certain patch parameter value on all 16 parts at once (i.e. volume or pan)
  • Visual display of scales and chords played on part
  • Realtime voice/dsp usage screen!

+1

I also second DR.DR : circular menus everywhere!

Ted3000 asked for Filter keyboard tracking: +1

And isakeit revised graphic display would rock!
http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=644162#644162

I can imagine an histogram view/edit of 2x8 parameters par bar, i.e. note, velocity, length, a bit like the E-MU XL-7/MP-7/PX-7/Proteus 2500

Cheers.

Timeslices to be loopable on the E2S. Without them taking up more slots.

Atleast make it the same as it was on the ESX with 1/30 of a second being repeated as explained here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sE-Wq0MqqCQ

That way we could again load a huge number of single cycle waveforms. (Roughly 9000 if it was like the ESX or then how many tens of thousands fit in 25 MB)

Hi everybody,

I was really excited by the Electribe Sampler 2 when it came out ! I immediately went to a store, planning to buy it. But after a quick try I ran into the pattern change issue, and it was a deal breaker for me.

Already mentioned with these words :

Quote:
- The note tails to carry on when pattern changes

Quote:
- no pattern gap when switching patterns

Quote:
1. pattern gap issue (long notes get killed when changing a pattern)

Pattern chaining or song mode would be great too.

So would be MIDI Merge/Through.

Have a nice day

Long time ago that I've posted here. In the meantime I learned to like my E2S a bit more. But of course I still often scratch my head and do not understand why Korg doesn't see the potential of this little boxes, they really could be sold much more often with just a few tweaks... Anyway a petition is great!

** No breaking note tails on pattern change
    ** Enhance the voice ergonomic
** Send CC automation values to MIDI out
** Enhanced MIDI out filter possibilies
** Reduce the disturbing noice when power save mode is enabled and audio in is set to through
** 8 bar patterns (or at least pattern chaining)
** The display should show changed parameter values (like on the old Electribes)! Just a little pixel would help a lot to indicate when the value isn't the original value anymore...
** Pads should blink in Mute mode (like in the other modes)
** In Mute mode press/hold the Mute button to select tracks/pads (like in the other modes)
    ** Record Mute on/off
** Parameter locks (like the Elektron devices). Press and hold a pad and turn a knob for step automation.
** Legato pattern change mode. Be able to change a pattern before the pattern end, the new pattern is not starting from the beginning, the play position continues where the old pattern was switched. If this would be recordable, it becomes very mighty for intuitive creation of variations.
** Decay and release could be separated (for release press shift).
** Long (tied) notes dont look the same (in sequencer mode) like separate single 1/16 notes.
** Enhanced copy and paste (i.e. bars)
    ** Nudge notes

My list is pretty short

-- real arpeggiator
-- parameter locks (or easier editing of controller values per step)
-- note/trigger probability per step
-- per part MFX send level (motion sequence-able would be cool!)
-- part level seems to affect the gain of signal into the IFX - ideally, if IFX are on, the part level controls post-IFX levels, especially for distortion.

+1, but won't happen I'm afraid.

per part MFX level would be amazing

Also aside form sending this stuff to someone who works at Korg, I also sent them this stuff on twitter so hopefully they'll see it

Pretty happy with the unit so far, but these things would take it to the next level:

* Real arpeggiator
* Parameter lock (hold pad+knob in seq)
* Change order of time slices (e.g. motion seq/parameter lockable osc per step)
* Loop end point (release tails)
* Assignable MIDI channels per part
