This is driving me mad. My E2 sampler has a very high pitched noise when line in is enabled. It's so bad that it's made its way into my samples. Nothing I tried has worked. It's really ruining the device's usefulness for me. Has anyone else noticed this?

Example attached, listen to the end of the sample.

Edit: Just updated to 1.15 and it didn't help at all.

Sorry, I didn't listen to the audio.
Is it the "powersave" noise? The annoying buzzing that goes away with :powersave" set to OFF? Rolling Eyes

No. It's a very high-pitched "mosquito noise" that may be above most people's audible range. Sort of like what old CRT monitors emitted. It's very obvious and ear piercing with the volume up.

Well. I tried to listen to your sample. It's possible that I am too old to hear it. All I hear is a thump, and no high-pitched noise.

However, it doesn't appear on the waveform of your sample:

or show anything in audacity:

Perhaps it is out of the range of human hearing and you have Dog Ears.??

Also, if it's not the "powersave" noise; then, from what I have seen, other's haven't reported it.

I have pretty good hearing and can hear past 18k, plus using good headphones. Still, the noise is pretty clear to me even on iPhone buds. I've isolated the noise and boosted it ~10db so it's more obvious. I am starting to wonder if this is common to all E2S devices but outside the range of most people's hearing so they don't notice it.

There's some floor noise when amplified, which is acceptable. I'm taking about the ear-piercing noise. You can hear it in between hits in this sample, given good headphones and ears.

If you can't hear it, then at least enjoy the free TR-505 sample from my personal unit Cool

Edit: You can clearly see it in a good frequency analyzer. Nasty spike ~13k

I made a short video demonstrating the noise. Hopefully it's audible when listening in high def.

Do you have the usb cable plugged in? This can introduce a high pitched noise (usb grounding issue)
I fixed this problem by covering one of the usb pins with tape.

No. USB is not connected, though that too is noisy but without that annoying 12k frequency spike. Also, I don't have anything connected to Audio In, the noise is internal to the device.

ive been getting a similar noise with mine. it happens more often with batteries than the power supply, yet still exists regardless. I had to use a noise reduction plugin when I recorded something into Pro Tools recently.

Thanks a lot!

Now I can't unhear it.

With this damned whine, it's no wonder my dog hates my music.

Yeah, heard it since day one on my machine as well. You just have to "live with it" I guess.

But hey, the same issue is present with the volca keys as well. Korg QA needs to get a frequency analyzer. Luckily we have software parametric eqs with sharp q's, easy to get rid of it

Because of this noise and the power safe noise I do not use my Electribe on recordings anymore. I clearly recognised it while mastering with good speakers (though my ears are old, too) since then the Electribe stays turned off.

That is true. But the power safe noise has a much wider frequency range, so if you will try to cut it you will also cut the frequency of the other instruments.

Glad it's not just me, but at the same time I was hoping it was a problem with just my ES2 so that I can replace it. I really love the box, there's nothing like it out there. At the same time, the sampler functionality loses a lot of its appeal when I can't use samples recorded by the ES2 in my productions. Also, I like running external synths into audio in to use the ES2's effects but that results in a constant whine. Sure, it can be EQ'd out, but for a $400 instrument you shouldn't have to.
