Hi,

Yes they can. Install the XL+ editor. It can read in the XL library and program files of the XL editor.

The other way around is possible as well, but is not supported by official tools of Korg.

Have fun.

Thank you!

Interesting that the XL and XL+ have identical engines (I assume that's true, if the patches are interchangeable).

I'll have to check out the sounds on the XL sometime . . .

Well...

Yes, they have the same engine.

The difference between the XL and XL+ are the PCM samples. The XL+ has some other PCM samples and took over some PCM samples of the XL, but some of those ended at another sample number. So there is no 100% compatibility between the XL and XL+ programs, in particular if you have programs based on PCM samples. It is not clear what happens when the XL+ editor reads in a XL program based on PCM samples, whether it tries to match the samples that are common, but have another sample number or what it does when it is based on a sample only existing in the XL.

Non-PCM based programs will very much sound the same on both synths.

Bye

afaik, the synths will use whatever waveform is stored in "that" location, so some programs/patches will sound different. for example, if a program/patch uses waveform #15, the xl will produce a pipe organ, whereas the xl+ will produce the mellotron tape flute.

Yep, seems the easiest way for implementing the import.
I confirm rammsteins statement. Just exchanged a patch between the XL and the XL+ editor that is PCM based.
