Hi
I realize there's quite a few posts already on reloading M1 factory sounds but I'm currently helping someone who has lost their sounds.
Using Midiox and setting the keyboard up as per the youtube vid, I've loaded the programs on ok but the combis for some reason aren't loading.
When sending the program sysex file, a lot of data is shown and it takes
several seconds whereas the combi file is very quick with little data displayed.
ORIGPROG file is 16.1 KB
ORIGGLOB file is 991 bytes
Seems like a large difference. Not sure if this has anything to do with it.
Any help appreciated. |

16kB seems on the small side for all the program and combi data. The second file is probably global data.
The M1 preload file from the Korg website is around 50kB. When this is loaded and then saved as separate files, Program data is 16kB, Combi data 14kB, sequence data 19kB, and Global data 1kB.
I found it best to slow MidiOx right down, with quite large delays and output buffer sizes.
MidiOx settings that seem to work:
Low Level Input Buffers: Size 512 Bytes, Num = 32.
Low Level Output Buffers: Size 65535 Bytes, Num = 512.
Delay Between Buffers 100ms.
Delay After F7 box is checked, and delay set to 500ms.

Thanks.
I can't seem to find the M1 factory preload file on the Korg website. I have the file from Vintagesynths and from one other link but not from the Korg website.
I meant to say that the ORIGCOMB file is 991 bytes. It's the same from both links.
I've tried the sysex file again with the suggested settings but no luck. |

Have sorted it now.
I found a 48 KB sysex file on sysexdb.com which included both Programs and Combinations.
Thanks for the help. |

You can load the files in PCG Tools to check easily what the contents are. _________________

Perfect timing! My M1 as also full of inits and I've managed to use your software (on Win7) to send the sysex and restore factory settings.
Just for future reference, I uses 858.syx from that sysexdb.com site and it was fine. (I had found other syx files that worked OK for Progs/etc but did not work for Combis.)
Thanks! |
