|
|
I inadvertently lost/misplaced/discarded the cardboard spacers that go between the keys and front rail. I found some other heavy card stock and am using that, but the originals were much tougher and better quality and I'd like to have a set of those back. In that the manual recommends their use when the keyboard is not in play, I contacted Korg customer service for replacements. They said:

We apologize for the delay.
The item you are describing is a cardboard spacer used as packing material.
We do not stock extras of those spacers for distribution or sale.
Thank you and happy Holidays,

Seems like a lame excuse to me, when NOT using them causes the rail to eventually contact the keys (been there done that). Anyone have any extras they can send my way? |

I use some pretty durable thin cardboard. Works nicely. No need to purchase um. _________________

Yeah, I'm not sure were my spacers are either and I'm about to start gigging. I think that's REALLY LAME that I need to put CARDBOARD in the keyboard to ensure it won't get damaged while in a FLIGHT CASE!
Having said that, and that I don't want a damaged keybed, what can we use for this purpose once we (inevitably) lose the included spacers? _________________ Korg: KRONOS 73, M50-61, 01W/r

It's not that the keyboard would be damaged, but that (especially on an 88 ), the rail is flexible enough that a flight case might eventually push the rail in a bit and it could (and does) contact the [center-ish] keys.
I'm using some cardboard my wife had for some ribbon, it's maybe 1-2mm thick. I'm hoping to find some flexible plastic around here with the same thickness.
Honestly, that's the ONLY problem I've had with my K88, unlike the vocal minority. If it stays that way, I'll remain tickled pink. However, Korg could pony up some spacers and make my life that much easier. |

You can use any thin paperboard.
I cut up the backs of some telephone notepads.
The included Korg cardboard spacers aren't anything special. _________________ ** KORG Product Support Contacts **

Hi guys! I have a K2 73 and after a month at home it's time to take this baby out. I see no cardboards included in the box and I was thinking about to cut some to use when I go to gig. Could you tell me the size of the cardboards? And do they care ALL the keys?
And finally...should I use these cardboards? I've heard complains from people that own K1.
Thanks in advance |

put a few business cards together. its to keep the keybed from shifting.
a group of 5 equally spaced should do it. make sure you don't drop any card or stuff in the gap _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8

I don't think the K2 needs the spacers. I had a KX88 before and it had spacers but the earlier models had issues with the keybed. My K2 has had no keybed issues or moving. The thought of having spacers because the keybed will move leads me to believe something is not right. Not a bad idea though but i haven't heard any problems with the K2 as far as i know. _________________ K2 Kronos 88, Mojo 61, Korg CX3, Roland FANTOM 7 |

Hard to be sure. My 5 yr Kronos shipped with the spacers. So that told me it was a good idea. _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8

Hi,
Not sure of the need for this?
All of my keyboards move about in properly designed hard flight cases, with no cardboard spacers, and I have never had an issue. _________________ Derek Cook - Java Developer

The Kronos and Kronos X had cardboard spacers .
Kronos 2 has no spacers and think they fixed the issue with keybed moving .
My old KX 88 keybed was noisy and i always used cardboard spacers when moving. But you are right if you have them good idea to use them. _________________ K2 Kronos 88, Mojo 61, Korg CX3, Roland FANTOM 7 |

I am not sure the Kronos is designed/manufactured like every other keyboard.
The keybed movement( when popping the bottom hatch, or bouncing it around during shipping) on the 1st gen could be a quirk. _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8

OK, I include the Kronos X in my statement on my keys. It goes about in a Korg Hard Case and I have had no problems (so far). I am not a heavy gigger, mind, a few a month, but it is usually a 100 mile round trip to get to/from the gigs. _________________ Derek Cook - Java Developer
