Hi,

Has the connection for Radias been working before?
Try another USB hub connection?
If you connect the Radias to your M3 using MIDI, can one control the other and vice versa?
If you connect via USB, do you see the Radias listed in the device manager?
In the editor, check the MIDI preferences.

Good luck.

Make sure you run the Korg driver utility that allows you to delete old USB MIDI drivers. If the Radias gets placed up at MIDI Port 18 or something high up like that it won't work properly so you need to go in and delete old drivers to get the Radias or R3 back at a lower port number. It's a pain but I've had to do this several times in the past to get things working.

Here are the instructions

Hi OpAmp,

Does the USB plug on the back of the M3 allow you to connect to the Radias? If so, what is the advantage of connecting the two?

Both the M3 and Radias are new acquisitions so there are no old drives when you consider I have these units for over 2 months.

Thank you for your assistance.

Hi MMTGuy28,

Thank you for this information. Here is what I have done following your instructions:

A - Un-installed all USB Korg drivers
B - Initialized the installation of the Korg driver v. DrvTools_1_15_r29 by clicking on "remove" and not "repair"
C - Restart the Windows 7
D - Configure the settings for the KORG USB-MIDI Driver

[img] https://ibb.co/YWGMK5x [/img]
[img] https://ibb.co/r58vdCk [/img]
[img] https://ibb.co/LdhB0P4 [/img]

Still unable to get the Radias connected to the Sound Editor having both MIDI cables and USB connected. There is no problem with the M3

This forum script is messed up - the BBC code is not being implemented. The list nor does the img tags work.

Hi,

No, you're right, you can not cross connect them using plain USB.
But as you said both methods rx/tx MIDI (I assume you mean DIN by that) or USB are failing. So I was trying to figure out wheter it has to do with your PC or the Radias.
(Btw, you can connect both using a MIDI cable)

If you use the USB cable, you need to install properly the drivers as MMTGuy28 indicates.
If you use USB-MIDI (USB one side, MIDI other side), typically these cables are recognized automatically. Worst case you need to install the driver for your particular cable.

Have fun

Hi,

Ok, the pictures show that your driver seems to be installed correctly.

Can you check on the Radias, Page 06-1 MIDI filter that all of them are enabled, especially the SystemEx? (Each line should show 0, not X)

Good luck.

Hi OpAmp,

The status of all 5 filters displayed on page 6 (MIDI Filter) = 0 thus enabled. I have not to change these settings.

I continue to get the error msg when clicking under MIDI > Receive 1 Program - failure: timeout or failure device inquiry error. Sad

Config Korg USB-MIDI driver for screen 1 is:
https://ibb.co/tH0W33q
https://ibb.co/mtwk8Dt

Found in the second link (Device List) above, does the # sign indicate MIDI channel or device number - and why are they the same?

Regards -

Mmh, if all filters are enabled, then it is ok.

The #1 refers according to me to the number of devices that have been found, rather than the MIDI channel.

I just noticed now in one of the pictures, that you specify the note midi in parameter to be Radias 2 MIDI IN. That is not correct. Choose not in use! This creates maybe a kind of endless MIDI messages loop between your PC and the Radias and causing the timeout. I really hope that this solves your issue.

Bye!

Thank you for your help - I did as you instructed and selected the option under Preferences - Note for MIDI to not to use. As I had it previously setup, it was causing feedback. I see the MIDI monitor responding to the keyboard in the MIDI in box. The MIDI out is not responding.

While clicking to option under MIDI to "Receive one Program" I am still getting the error msg, Getting now a "time out" error and not at the moment receiving the "Device inquiry error."

Hi,

Unfortunatly, I'm running out of ideas here...

I'm still puzzled on your setup. Do you now use 2 MIDI DIN cables or USB? One method only should be fine.
Can you also check the Global-P04 MIDI-Routing parameter?
What about the test on cross connecting the Radias and the M3 using DIN? Just to see wheter MIDI on the Radias is working in both ways.

Ciao.

Thank you for your persistence in trying to resolve this. Here is what the Global P4 looks like:

a- MIDI Channel: 2
b - Local control: On
c - Routing: USB+MIDI
d - Clock: Internal
e - MIDI 1: #016
f - MIDI 12: #002

I connected the MIDI out to the Radias MIDI in and synced the MIDIs and the Radias is responding to the M3's surface controls for program change.

While using only MIDI for connection type on the Radias, if I select on the editor in the "Program List" - the first item I click on, Receive Selected, I get: failed to receive A01

Using Reaper I can not see the Radias there but do see all my other equipment.

Ok, Radias is responding on changes on the M3 surface.

What about vice versa (Radias MIDI out to M3 MIDI IN)? Make sure that on Radias Global P04, MIDI channel is the same as on M3 Global P01, MIDI basic - MIDI Channel.

Keep the routing on Global P04 to USB+MIDI, but connect it only using either USB cable or either the 2 MIDI DIN ports to your PC. Not the combination of the 2.

When using USB, in the editor preferences window, try also for MIDI IN and OUT the Radias 1 option instead of the Radias 2 option as you show in one of your pictures. Don't mix Radias 1 and Radias 2 as settings for IN/OUT.

Bye.

Here are the results while going the other way - Radias to M3 for MIDI control. The M1 is responding to surface control - patch changes from the Radias, the M1 parches are responding. I can change M1 patches from the Radias.

Will continue on your other instruction - will post in awhile.
