|
|
Hi guys I was wondering how can I hold a key downis on the R3 and keep the envelopes resetting?
is there a way to do this without modularing the envelope with lfo?
also how would I get theinto effects to reset as wella?
im trying to use it as a guitar pedak gor experimental, fun.
any pointers?
p.s would noise gates be helpful? kinda silly but its pretty new to me |

Hi,
The envelopes can not be reset while holding a key.
You can neither modulate the envelopes using an LFO.
But you can use the LFO to modulate some other parameters like Cutoff (as EG1) or Amp level (as EG2)
If the LFOs do not give you the shape you're looking after, consider to record (or step edit) a modulation sequence. That you can shape more or less to what you want. It can be routed to much more parameters than the virtual patches and best of all, it keeps repeating if wanted.
What do you mean by 'resetting the effects'? By the LFO or ...? At first, I would say, effects can not be reset. Depending on what you are looking after, some effect offer sync capabilities which may fit your resetting needs.
Noise gate. That depends what you want to do (adding high gain, distortion) and where (in the R3 or external effects or in a preamp). Note that the R3 has an insert effect 'Stereo gate' which may already fulfill your needs.

Modulation sequence would work perfectly! I right, that doesn't make sense, using lfo to modulate what i want makes more sense lol.
Hmmm.... I think I might have not been thinking clearly. still new to this but I was afaid the tremolo or reverb effect only occurs when you first hit the key, then after that you have to hit the kick again for it to work.
I'm returning home again this weekend to my equipment but basically it seems if i hold the key, while playing guitar, any signal from the guitar that passes through the synth will have the effects.
Thanks for letting me know about the gate. |

Hi,
While reading your reply, some more ideas that I forgot popped up again...
If you use the tremolo and/or reverb or any other effect from the FX section, these are not reset upon key action. They all continue.
Concerning the reset of the envelopes, holding a key and playing guitar. You can use the arpeggiator for that purpose.
* use audio in for oscillator 1
* set up the arpeggiator and set it in latch mode, start it
* once you hit a key and release it, it will internally generate key hits and thus retriggering of the envelopes.
Now this needs some tweaking to get it working fine.
E.g. if EG2 has a short release time, you get a tremolo effect. If it is set long, the previous note fades in the next note and you get a more continuous output. It's best to start with a short attack, but not 0, zero decay, maximum sustain and a release as you like. Check also the other 2 EG, what parameter they are modulating (virtual patches, cutoff intensity), by what they are modulated themself (key velocity, motion sequencer).
Check also the gate parameter of the arpeggiator.
Have fun. _________________ microKORGXL, Kaossilator Pro, monotribe, SQ-1, volca fm, Kross 88 BK
