Dear all
I'm trying to create my own style and needed to copy some tracks like bass and guitar from another styles. I can work and edit freely on all styles located under user1 2 and 3
But it is impossible to edit anything on all styles located elsewhere. I know ot might be a copyright sinces my pa3x still got the company set installed on it
I always get error " The current style is not editable ". Is there a way to fix this. Please help
Thanks for any info |

On my pa3xle if i Uncheck "factory styles protect" from Global/Mode Preferences/Media any of factory styles are editable.
Maybe on pa3x is the same thing. _________________ Korg pa1000 |

Angelitto is correct.
You need to go into MEDIA mode and the "Preferences" tab
If it helps - see page 237 un the PA3X user manual
Cheers

Gents, both methods did not work i changed it from global and media then i saved and restarted and still same issue...i think it is write protection from the company because settings keep coming back the same no matter if i change it!!..any suggestions please |

Every time you power on the keyboard, factory styles are protected. So unprotect them just before you wanna edit them. _________________ Korg pa1000 |

When you change the GLOBAL settings you must "write" those changes - also when you "save" your SET to disk the GLOBAL settings are saved.
Your "factory Unprotect" should remain as you selected even after POWER OFF.

So sorry - I had a senior moment - was thinking (wrongly) that you were in GLOBAL mode (not MEDIA mode)
I don't have my PA3X any more but I didn't (and still don't) ever overwrite factory data because of OS and resources updates.
It looks like Korg decided it was important to "reset" this option.
Cheers

Highlight the locked file and check the drop down menu - I think there is an unprotect option - can't remember my PA3x but it is on my PA4X
Just make sure you are in COPY tab then you'll see all files.....
Let me know......

I can not see any files on HD under the copy menu it is blank ,it is only showing under save
There is the unprotect option in the menu but no files to apply it to.
Thanks for your time and effort i hope there is a way around it |

You seem to be confused here ...
What you see in Korg System Disk as Rom.PCG is only the directory of factory sounds and not the actual PCM rom
factory sounds of 512 Mb that you can't edit or copy 'cause are encrypted in Bin files format and half of them are only
in motherboard flash memory !
Also this has nothing to do with editing factory sounds or styles that can be easily done if uncheck factory protection
and save them before restarting Pa3X , as other members wrote you !
But ... these factory changes can never be saved as Save.ALL format , that saves only user resources ...
If you want to save factory editted resources the only way is Media/Utility/Full resources backup !
hope this helps _________________ Music Conductor - Sound Engineer & Developer - Automotive SMPS/RF R&D - Electronics Engineer

I know for sure that we can save any style in factory positions , but I do not use either edit factory styles and I have never
exchanged tracks between them to be sure for that !
Therefore do the safe and working procedure :
- Unlock factory resources protection (styles/sounds)
- Copy the every style per time you want to edit in user position , copy tracks you need from other factory styles and save style.
- While on saved user style , go to Record/edit current style and from upper screen scroll down menu choose write style ,
browse for factory position and save it.
- After next restarting , edited factory style will be there , and if you want to save the whole Pa3X factory edited resources status
then create a full resources backup as I've already mentioned.
The same can be applied to any factory sound !
Also note that overwriting factory styles has a meaning only when you have filled all users positions otherwise it's a really silly
option to destroy Pa3X factory resources that you might need in the future and only a factory restore can recall them !
