|
|
Hey all, i just picked up a Korg M1, like to check if the joystick is supposed to have some play left and right, when i move the M1 the joystick will rattle? Or is it supposed be stiff like the one on the Kronos? The joystick works fine by the way. Thank you! |

How much play is there, and is it in the joystick lever, or the whole joystick assembly (i.e. including the top panel part of the joystick) that is rattling? Does the joystick lever return to the centre position after movement in every direction, and is there any slack in the centre position?
It's normal for the joystick lever to "creak" a little on the M1 when the lever is moved. That can be reduced by application of something like key grease in the right places, though this will require removing the bottom panel on the M1 to access the joystick mechanism. Regular mineral oil or lithium grease are not recommended.

Thanks for the reply.
The play is only on the lever itself, only in the pitch up and down axis (left and right). If you move the stick, after about 3mm to the left or right then you can feel the spring resistance. So at rest its leaning either slightly to the left or right. When i move the M1 i can hear the stick rattling away lol.
Up and down (modulation) is ok, no play. |

About 4mm of play on an M1 joystick here. Never been an issue. There's a simlar amount of free movement before spring take-up on a Kronos, but the free movement is damped somehow so it doesn't rattle.

Same here on my M1 - Up - Down play = next to nothing, Left - Right play 'bout 3-4 mm before reaction... looks as if it's 'normal' |
