|
|
For most songs, I setup a style backing. Choose a style with the right kind of drum and bass track, re-assign the keyboard set(s) and then tweak the accompaniment instruments. If I am lucky (which doesn't happen often), I might get it all done in 30 minutes. But more likely about an hour and, occasionally, 2+ hours.
I am curious - how long does it usually take others to set up a song with style backing? Am I being a bit finicky and taking too long? _________________ Korg Pa4X (OS NEXT 3.1.0)

I find it varies a lot - I take quite a while and often longer if I include text files.
Even if I get one going in 10-15 minutes, I will invariably end up making changes again before the final version.
I don't think you are being finicky or taking too long - if the end result is good then that's all that matters IMHO.

I do about the same thing. I make a rough choice of the style and instruments, then I save it in a set list I made for pending songs. When I am satisfied, I move it to a finishes playlist. I find that, at first, what I think is good, is always improved upon, but it takes me a few plays to recognize the needed improvement, hence the pending file. _________________ pa4x

As above. Pick a suitable style, change as I see fit and generally 'lick it into shape' setting up the harmonies, effects and so on and then assign it a number and save it in Songbook.
Of course, this still doesn't stop me from making fine tweaks along the way. We've got songs that we've been doing for years which still get the odd bit of adjustment. It's all in the ear of the beholder, really. _________________ When I nod my head . . . Hit it!

...as already mentioned by others on here setting a new style can varyquite
a bit timewise....
Also when out performing with a new song/style I quite often find that the 'live' settings are not quite right and (if I remember) when I'm back at home I re-tweek the settings a bit...It's never quite the same when amplified up to suit the room and performance.... _________________ Korg PA900 - Yamaha Tyros 4

There is no question that you are right. In fact, if it is a small problem, I will correct it right there if I have time, especially, EQ. _________________ pa4x

Thanks to all for your comments - comforting to know that my approach is somewhat similar to that used by others. _________________ Korg Pa4X (OS NEXT 3.1.0)
