|
|
Title says it all. Over the weekend I tried to
update my friend's Kronos 73 and 61 (both
original Kronos models) from O.S. 2.2.1 to
3.04 (which was successful). Then updated
the firmware on both keyboards to version
6.04.. all good. THEN, I tried updating both
of his Kronos keyboards to O.S. 3.1.2.
No joy ...I just got a message after selecting
Update System Software, saying "Error. Please
turn the Kronos off and try again". Tried
again...same message.
Anyone have any ideas? I followed the update
procedure guidelines exactly..including dragging
the contents of the update folder (not the
folder itself) to a Kronos formatted USB drive
that has nothing else on it. I've updated my
own Kronos many times successfully, but not
to 3.1.2, and I'm not going to try that until
I can figure out what is wrong with this
3.12 update. Maybe it is just for Kronos 2? |

The update worked fine on my KRONOS X-88.
The only other thing I can think of, is a new and different USB. And try formatting it on a PC rather than the KRONOS. I know that sounds weird, but I always format on my PC and never had a problem. Is this a USB you've used before?
Sounds like you did everything that I did and do each time I do an update.
Let us know. The update is pretty cool (quick layer/split). |

The USB key I used is the same one I used to install v. 3.04 on my friend's Kronos 73 and 61. It was originally formatted on my Kronos. I don't see why
it works fine for updating to v. 3.04 but not for updating to v. 3.12.
I will try another fresh USB key on my own Kronos which is still at 3.04. If it doesn't work then, guess I'll forget about upgrading the O.S. |

It might just be worth re-downloading the 3.1.2 update file and trying again.
I keep a USB stick purely for updating the Kronos and delete all previous files before copying the installation file structure to the USB key's root level. If the updating process sees any files from a previous upgrade, it will fail.

I had the some problem upgrading from 3.0.2 on Kronos 73.
However the solution was to restart the kronos with the usb memory already attached during bootup. That solved my problem and kronos is now upgraded to 3.1.4 |

Yeah I had a similar problem when I first got mine upgrading to OS3.04 and switching USB sockets fixed it as recommended by somebody here - the other USB socket works fine - it's had a mini QWERTY keyboard attached with tracker ball - that's never made sense but it worked??? _________________ _________________________________________

Sounds like good advice. Over the weekend I held my breath and upgraded my Kronos X73 from 2.1.1 directly to 3.1.2 following the "Updating and restoring the KRONOS" pdf. All worked fine. |

Yes, you can update any KRONOS to the latest OS.
What OS are you on now? Depending on what it is, you may have to update the firmware.
You can find all of the necessary updates on KORG.COM/KRONOS |

My update worked when I:
1) formatted the memory stick on the Kronos and not on a PC
2) followed the directions and copied all the subdirectories, not just the files in the install directory to the root of the memory stick
I lost a couple hours on the install process, but almost all of it was not doing step 1.
(Yes, I had unplugged every USB port on the Kronos first. THAT direction I did right the first time.) _________________ Fred

I'm confused- to my knowledge and the website tells me the latest update is 3.1.2- there does NOT appear to be a 3.1.4 update.
Where did you get this?? Because I can't find it. |
