Read the instructions for upgrading in the file: KRONOS_Update_and_Restore_E4.pdf

The downloaded file needs to be unzipped, but do not unpack the tarball within it. The update requires a specific file structure to be present on the thumb drive. The directory structure should look like, from the root:

Manuals (dir)
mnt (dir)
bc
DisplayUpdaterMessage
install.info
KRONOS_Update_3_1_3.csum
KRONOS_Update_3_1_3.tar.gz
md5sum
posttar.sh
pretar.sh

.

Thank you for your help, I think that I am doing everything according to the instructions, but I will check the pendrive if the kronos reads it at all

That happened to me, too. I was using an old USB stick that happened to be malfunctioning. Could that be the case, maybe? Have a good one.

You nothing get with update from 3.1.2 to 3.1.3. Read it in Korg web site.
Don't waste you time with this.
Anyway USB stick incompatibility can be source of problem.

here one can see all the changes (bug fixes, enhancements) included in v3.1.3, which include just two areas of fixes since the previous version 3.1.2:

https://cdn.korg.com/us/support/download/files/ae0b70caf8367e1b76f4f3c7fac51d22.pdf?response-content-disposition=inline%3Bfilename%3DKRONOS_3_1_3_Release_Notes_E1.pdf&response-content-type=application%2Fpdf%3B

System Version 3.1.3 (February 25, 2019)
Changes Since KRONOS System Version 3.1.2 (Two bug fix areas)

1) Program mode (Bug fixe)
- Using the HD-1 Filter LFO Intensity in the Tone Adjust function might have caused an operational error. This has now been fixed.

2) Disk mode (Bug fixes)
- The Piano Type parameter didn’t function correctly just after installing an EXs sound library. This has now been fixed.

- Saving sample data to a KMP file might have caused an operational error. This has now been fixed.
