I don't think that it really has a factory reset. There's a short list of things that you can configure, and there's a sheet available from KORG that tells you how to configure them, but the rest is just knobs on the front panel.

yes you can, not sure what these guys above are talking about, but ok.

To restore all sequence data to the factory defaults on your Korg Volca Beats, Bass, or Keys:
Hold FUNC and MEMORY while turning on your Volca module.
The REC and PLAY buttons will blink and the display will show Ld.Pr.
Press the REC button to restore factory defaults or press PLAY to cancel

I have downloaded multiple series of instructions. I just can't make it work. I can erase a sequence, but when I turn the Volca on again later, the sequence is back.

I'm wasting my batteries trying every possible combination of "func" "clear" "write/erase" and so on. I want to be able to clear all the sequences & write new ones.

Is there a "save" function on this thing or not?

If you want a blank pattern there is a save function Laura ,just simply clear it ,then write to a pattern - like you would a new recording .
Haven't a volca infront of me but IIRC its function & rec to write ,then hit a pattern memory to store (once you have a blank pattern).

Will that erase all of the recorded sequences? That's what I'm trying to do. I bought this from someone on Craigslist & i want to start new.

I tried these instructions but when I press Active step, the old patterns are still there.

Previously I have pressed Func and clear all. that should clear all the patterns? it's not working.

I've learned to use lots of other synths...so is it me, or is it possible for the circuit board on these devices to simply be scrambled?

Hi Laura.
So have you used the function & clear option - then Write that to a pattern (in order to save you blank pattern) ? Again from memory ,but I think its function & record, then select a pattern with 1 - 8.
