Let's make something clear here ...
You have already managed to install Kronos resources , so DVD drive is not your issue , any working compatible motherboard
also is not the issue here !
Your main and only issue is that you can't re-authorize your Kronos because both Mobo and SSD ID have been altered and system
gives false validation anytime you restart Kronos and you have to provide validation anytime you restart for ever ...
This happens under my experience in the following cases :
- If you clone boot SSD of Kronos 2 and try to boot it in a Kronos 1/X
- Just the reverse case
- If you upgrade modo and use older DVD resources , have not tested the case of downgrading mobo though !

Hope this helps

"And there was much rejoicing"

Thank you Antony, Pedro, GregC, Voip for your very appreciated help.
Antony; major kudos for uploading the Kronos2 DVD's and giving me a place to download them.
As you can see by the screen shot, I am updated to 3.1.2 and all is working as it should.
I'll try to summarize the main issue in case anyone else runs into this problem.

- Tried to do a full install / format on, what I thought, was a Kronos61; 1st edition.
- Install seemed to go fine until initial boot. Using original Kronos DVD's purchased from the Canadian Korg reps. A two DVD set. Halfway through initial boot, received the "19,keybed" error. The screen shot below is a monitor hooked directly up to the MOBO. It says OA.ko failed. I'm assuming OA stands for Oasys and it's a Linux driver for the keybed.

- After checking all the connections, new RAM, new SSD (Which wouldn't install either. That's another story that's briefly discussed in this thread. Just wouldn't accept the Auth code. But I digress.) it still wouldn't boot.
- With the help of the fine Forum Mavens, it was determined that my Kronos61,1st edition actually had the MOBO for a Kronos2 installed in it.
- I downloaded the 3-DVD set for Kronos 2. Installed 3.0.1 using a plain jane LG DVD portable 1-ported USB drive. (Not 2-ported, ******. Sorry. I shouldn't name names. I'll replace the name with asterisks) and there was the Kronos.

I think that puts it in as short of an explanation as I can. So now that I have a Kronos1-61 body with a Kronos2-61 MOBO; does that mean that this is a Kronos12?

you deserve a Korg gift certificate for perseverance.

Did you talk to the genius that jammed a K2 mobo into your K1 ?

What was going on ? Was he tweaking the K1 or was it a legit old mobo failure ?

The guy I bought it off of said he had the SSD replaced three years ago. But I'm thinking they did the MOBO as well and he just wasn't aware.
But it looks like it's never been replaced. It's a pretty clean switch out if they did. Usually you can tell. You see little signs that something was retrofitted.
I dunno.

Maybe the repair tech ran out of D510's and said "$%^& it..throw the new one in." Could be a Tech Service Note from Korg saying "We have no more of these. Use the 140D's and the Kronos2 install disks. Cuz we sed so!"

Its up to you, of course. But whoever did it.... I am not impressed. Especially
if its ' authorized Korg service "

Yep , since you've purchased EXS 17 & 18 IDs, apart from wooden sides , now you own a Kronos 2 ...
Also use DVD 3 resources for extra PCG files of Kronos 2 if you need them !
