Hi

Could someone please give me an idea of what role the "master track" plays on the Kronos, in relation to recording songs. I can't find anything on this in the manuals. I would have assumed/hoped that the mixed song would be recorded to the master track, which could then (via disc mode) be burned to disc.

The master track is usually used for recording tempo changes or control surface changes by specifying the measures that the changes occur within - or you can record them in realtime to it also. I don't use it myself, I tend to record changes in realtime to the specific tracks because I'm not sure how you 'explain' the control changes in text - but that's the main function of the Master track.

Mastering for CD is something entirely different - again I've not used it but I think it's just a simple instruction or menu option - 'Mix to CD' or something similar. The final 'mastering' you need to do yourself manually before the mixdown. All it does is record it to CD in Stereo Audio as you've sequenced it - there's no mastering options as far as I'm aware regarding that function.

No problem - I think the Master Track may actually be exclusively for time signature and Tempo changes actually - not control surface. Wink

Don't just take my word for anything though - my knowledge is limited and there's probably other members that can explain things in more detail for you.

Regards, Wink

Information on the Master Track is scattered throughout the Sequencer section of the Parameter Guide. Using the pdf reader search function to search for "master track" will help to build up a picture of what Master Track can and cannot do.
