Why do we talk about other manufacturers keyboards like the Montage when they come out? What's the difference? It's a new KORG product, I found it interesting and as a KRONOS owner it might be a great fit with a KRONOS.
That's all.
Jeeeeezzzz lighten up guys. |

We are not talking about the montage, we however have been talking about the differences between the Kronos and the Montage on these boards, because they fall in the same cattegory...
Its rather useless comparing a stage piano to a workstationnlike the Korg Kronos, altough the Kronos 88 still beats most stagepiano's in their own territory..
Now it could be usefull to discuss the new engines in the Grandstage and the new italian grand, and if they would make a good addition to the Kronos..but even that is allready discussed in another topic..
I just think a news post as you did, makes most sense in the news section, don't you agree? _________________ Korg Kronos 2/88 , Genos, Mainstage3 +VSTsu, ipad pro, GSi Gemini, Roland Integra 7, Jupiter Xm, Yamaha motif XS rack, Ketron SD90.

No I don't agree. But then again if the MODS want to move it they can.
That was THE purpose to maybe foster some discussion of what looks to be a pretty similar keyboard to the KRONOS (sans the workstation label), about similar engines, new engines, and whether the KRONOS will benifit from them in some way.
Pretty interesting that this would bother anyone especially when some people comment about anything and everything just to hear themselves speak.
I've been a member of these forums for quite awhile and when I post something it's in the spirt of sharing information and trying to be helpful. I may not have a Platnium status but I'm always here to contribute in a positive way.

I agree this is appropriate and worth talking about. It runs many Kronos sound engines and it has 2 that are not on the Kronos: a Vox and a compact (assuming farfisa) organ. My main question is will Korg make those available on the Kronos? |

I am hoping that it will not be too hard to port the Farfisa and Vox engines over to the Kronos. _________________ Latest Set Up: Kronos 61, Casio Privia, Korg TR61, EoWave Ribbon, Roli Rise 48, TEC Breath Controller, StudioLogic MP-117 Bass Pedals, Moog Theremini.

Because it's primarily a Piano... I've never played a Steinway Grand that had aftertouch _________________ Synth DIY Projects |

Be sure that all of you understand the difference between Velocity & Aftertouch.
Natural piano's key action is somehow between above that's why opinions differ !
An electronic keyboard decodes all required key speed information only by key Velocity and ends at the point that Aftertouch begins !
- Velocity detection that a sampler piano requires is the distance that a key moves according to time axe and determines
which velocity samples layer will be used , it bias Amp sensitivity , controls delay of hammers and release FX or any
other AMS control that is assigned to it.
- Aftertouch is the function that provides information of pressure value that is applied after a key has already triggered
the sound , actually has no meaning in a natural piano modeling and its mostly used in other string instruments like
natural violin/cello/guitars or Brass or Synths as an alternative +Y control for LFOs/pitch or other effect AMS control.
So if an electronic keyboard key has already traveled the required distance to trigger the proper piano layer note and FX ,
then required info is already sent and aftertouch function is rather useless in a natural piano simulation but must exist in
any keyboard in case that user would like to assign a midi AMS in a multi-layered piano stack.
Hope this helps _________________ Music Conductor - Sound Engineer & Developer - Automotive SMPS/RF R&D - Electronics Engineer
